Current mood: grateful
Yay, I'm home! I arrived Saturday for 2 weeks, and I'm having a great time! I wanted to write about what I've been doing, but this may be longer than you care to read, and that's ok with me. So, enjoy!
So I arrived Saturday morning at noon. I was greeted at the Portland Jetport by my Mom, my siblings Alisa, Amanda, Samantha, Drew, and Autumn, and my sister's friend, Tasha. We went to my sister's apartment that was just a few minutes away and ate lunch. It was Mom's birthday, so we also had birthday cheesecake, and made parfaits. It was sooooo hot and humid, I thought I was going to die. We all went for a walk around the park, and then it started to rain, and there was thunder and lightning, so we took off. When we got home, we just chilled out a while. The kids rode their bikes. Later that evening I took a ride over to my Pastor's house where I greeted him and his family. And that was quite enough for day 1!
Sunday morning we all went to church together. It was fun seeing everyone. After church, we all hid out in our air conditioned house and my brother Rob came over with his girlfriend, Nikki and my nephew, Macgyver. Mac is so big, I couldn't beleive it! We had birthday cake for mom. Then Samantha and I went out for her "Princess" Day. First we went to Subway to have lunch. Then we went to the Auburn Mall and walked around. We got pedicures, and Samantha got a manicure too. She chose this blue color. Then we went and got her hair done. She didn't want it too short so they just cut off about 2 inches and layered it. Then I bought her a crown and we went to Starbucks. It was fun. When we got home, the family went out to Dairy Queen for ice cream, then we went to the movies and saw "Ratatouie." (sp?)
Monday was my special day with Autumn. We drove down to Portland to the Maine Mall. We went to Build-a-Bear. She chose a pink fluffy cat. We put two voices in it, one that meowed, and one that you could record your own sound, so I recorded "I love you, Autumn" in it. Then they stuffed it, and she put a heart in it. Then she had to give the cat a bath (pretend, of course). Then we picked out clothes, she wanted a purple shirt that said 'Aloha' on it, jean capris, rainbow underpants, and pink flip flops. After dressing it, she named it (Flower-Kitty) and got a birth certificate and a purse for it too. Then we went to Taco Bell and stopped by Alisa's apartment to pick up some stuff for the fair from Tasha. We also stopped by Alisa's work (Kiddie Candids at Babies R' Us). Then we stopped at WalMart on the way home.
Tuesday the family took a trip to the coast. We drove to Lincolnville, near Rockland, and spend a couple of hours at the ocean. Then we had lunch at a playground and followed that up with a round of mini-golf.
Wednesday we just hung around the house and did errands during the day. In the evening we went to the Monmouth Fair. Autumn did the Kiddie-Tractor Pull, I did the Frying-Pan Throwing Contest, and Dad did the Hay-Bail Throwing Contest. Then we headed home.
Thursday morning we did errands. In the afternoon I took the kids to the Monmouth Lake where we met Nikki and Mac. After about an hour, Drew started complaining about his foot hurting, when I looked at it, he had this this piece of metal jutting all the way through his big toe. I picked him up out of the water and carried him to the lifeguard stand where they called the ambulance. Nikki packed up and took the kids home while I rode in the ambulance with him to the hospital. The EMTs working on him knew my parents since both Mom and Dad working with Monmouth Rescue also. Mom and Dad met us at the hospital. He had to get x-rays and then they pulled it out, it was really nasty. Poor kid. When we finally got out, we headed over Rob and Nikki's house and Nikki made up Spaghetti for everyone. When we got home, me and the kids watched "Night at the Museum."
So that brings us to today, Friday! We're gonna go to the lake again this afternoon, though Drew has to sit out :( . Then this evening we're going to go back to the Monmouth Fair. We're going to go on rides tonight and check out the rest of the fair, Alisa and Tasha are going to meet us there. I'm hoping to see some old high school friends that I haven't seen in years. The days are going by slow, and I'm making sure to enjoy every minute. I've taken about 600 pictures so far :) . I'll keep you updated, and I'm going to upload a whole bunch of photos that show what I wrote about under my pictures.
I miss you all! Love you!
