Current mood: uncomfortable Category: Life
ugh...christmas. had a very strange day. last night i had this sharp pain in my back, so went home early, from being out with Tara and a couple of her friends. hard time sleeping, terrible cramps in my lower back...figure they'd pass. spent a sleepless night, tossing and turning, in pretty intense pain, and the next morning, the pain was just as bad. talked to mum about my paranoia that it wasn't my back, but rather my kidneys that had given up. we bumped over possibilities. it's christmas, and no doctors are open, with "boxing day" (dec 26) not much will be open either. i wanted to see a doctor. over the next two hours, it got to the point where i was vomitting, shaking, dizzy, couldn't stand upright, and couldn't sit still because the pain was too great. we went to the hospital, which was (as could be expected) understaffed, but within an hour i had been diagnosed, as i had thought, of a bladder infection, which had travelled back into my kidneys. and had been given lot of tests, pinkillers and antibiotics.within 3 hours i was back at home. i feel very well now however... the interesting part of all this,is, of course, that pretty much every christmas, easter, thanksgiving, birthday...i wake up feeling like a scrouge, totally out of the "holiday spirit" and through some act of kindness, friendship, hardship, or plain ol chance, i find myself really appreciating the people round me. today was no different. the pain, and panic of watching your own healthy condition deteriorate SO quickly, scared me, and whenever i am sick, i (re)gain an appreciation of everyone around me.
