Because I'm too lazy to write a proper post, here's a few things that I think you should read about this week.
- Did you know that we have a new set of seven wonders of the world? Apparently because all of the original seven have disappeared, bar the pyramids of Giza. Nothing British or Aussie made the list, boo! (via Boing Boing).
- The world's tallest man got married in China this week. To a woman who barely reaches his elbow. Having lived a man who was 6'6 (and me at 5'2), I can appreciate that there are a lot of... logistical challenges. But good on them, tall people need love too! (via ABC News).
- Watch out Aussies, the cyborg crime wave is upon us! At least, so a Federal Police Commissioner fears. The linked article also has a lovely picture of a cyborg kitty. (via Boing Boing).
- Todays xkcd comic. Scarily enough, I almost relate to this (more in an OCD way, not a maths way).
- Today's Friday the 13th themed J-list side blog, about Japanese-based superstitions. Think you're free of superstition? The hotel I work at does not have a room 13... in fact, most don't. In Japan, it wouldn't have a four either. (via Peter Payne's blog).
That's about all for today... not a whole lot of news on my front. My friend Emily is visiting this weekend and I don't even know if I'll get to see her because I am working the whole time (boo!), but I did get a proper two day break from work this week (yay!), no more of my friends are getting married in the next 12 months (yet), and I've become addicted to a j-dorama. I started watching the Japanese drama "Hana Yori Dango" this week, thinking it would help me keep up my Japanese... not much help there since the version I found happens to have subtitles, but I'm now hooked on the show. It's about a poor girl attending a rich highschool who gets bullied by the richest boys, fights back, falls in love with one, ends up dating a different one... I know, I am such a girl. But I love it!
