Aside
from the Iowa-Iowa State game last week, we were right on the mark, but
still lost money due to a few miscues. Houston played even better than
we thought and we easily covered the Over. However, the Penn State QBs
cost us that game with Daryll Clark throwing a costly pick just before
half inside Syracuse's 20 and then backup QB Kevin Newsome fumbled deep
in their own territory late in the game that gave Syracuse their only
TD. In the Boise game, we missed a first-half Push when the kicker
missed an extra point with 17 seconds left. We just need to suck it up
and hope the breaks go our way next time.
Rice at Oklahoma St -32
Okie
St somehow did not heed the warnings about Houston last weekend and it
cost them dearly. The follow-up game sez a lot about a team with high
hopes that loses the previous week. If they were playing one of the
top Big 12 teams this week, I could see them packing it in. However,
they have the benefit of Rice coming into town. Rice has played their
first two games on the road and have given up 44 points and 55 points.
It is conceivable that OSU can put up 66. We see the Cowboys eating
Rice up early and often and are playing them for 10 units in the first
half at -19 and in the game for 10 units at -32.
Tennessee at Florida -28
Lane
Kiffin wanted to make his mark when he came aboard as Tennessee's
coach, but there had to be a smarter way to do it, especially with the
team he is fielding this year. He accused Urban Meyer and Florida of
recruiting violations just after arriving. Not a smart thing to do as
Meyer is not beyond embarrassing a team on the field and his players
like to be his dogs. The last two games have the Gators winning by a
combined score of 119-26! Meyer took the high road after the
accusations...right after he drew a big circle around this game. With
Florida going 18-4 ATS in their last 22 games, we love this game. Play
Florida to jump out big early and to not let up. Play Florida in the
first half at -17 for 12 units and for 15 units in the game at -28 (buy
to 28 if you have to as the line will keep going up).
Texas Tech at Texas -17
Speaking
of revenge, Texas Tech comes into Austin as the last team to beat the
Longhorns, which also cost them a shot at the National Championship.
Even though Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree are long gone, UT still
has that chip on their shoulder. They started looking ahead to this
game against Wyoming and found themselves with a scant 13-10 halftime
lead. After a strong lecture, they shut the Cowboys down with a 28-0
second half. The Red Raiders should get that treatment all day against
the Colt McCoy-lead offensive onslaught. Play Texas at -17 for 8
units.
