So sorry to be the bearer of bad news but PGP has issued an official statement saying GL will not have a new home.  Apparently they have exhausted every possible avenue and have called it quits.  That's all I have to say for now....I'm pretty well irritated with CBS for starting this mess....

It makes me very sad. Guiding Light is a family tradition for us. I hope CBS is happy. I hope they realize that they are gonna be losing over 2 million viewers because really do we need more talk shows.AAAAHHHHHHH.... I cant believe that theyre really gonna do this. I will no longer be watching anything on CBS. I hope the station suffers so bad that they call guiding light begging them to come back on the air.  Anyhow.. this sux

I AGREE WITH VICTORIA I WILL NO LONGER WATCH CBS EITHER. THEY WILL BE LOSING OVER 2 MILLION PLUS VIEWERS. WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER TALK SHOW OR REALITY SHOW. HAVE TO MANY ON HERE NOW. OR WE DON'T NEED ANY MORE GAME SHOWS. IT WILL BE A SAD DAY ON THE LAST SHOW THAT WILL AIR IN SEPT. I THINK EVERYONE NEEDS TO BOYCOTT CBS. CBS STANDS FOR CRAPPY BULLSHIT STATION. IT IS SAD TO TAKE OFF THE LONGEST RUNNING SOAP IN AMERICAN HISTORY. I HOPE THAT CBS GOES BANKRUPT AND NEVER CAN COME BACK ON TV AGAIN. IF I WAS UP AT THE STATION I WOULD GIVE THEM A PIECE OF MY MIND AND TELL THEM EXACTLY WHAT I THINK. I AM SO MAD AT CBS THEY ARE NOT PEOPLE WITH FEELINGS THEY ALL HAVE NO HEARTS OR ANYTHING ELSE TO DO THIS. I DON'T SEE HOW ANY OF THEM SLEEP AT NIGHT. OH WELL WHAT COMES AROUND GOES AROUND AND THEY WILL GET THEIRS. TIME WILL TELL IT ALL.

Cbs should just be called Talk/Reality bull shit..bc thats all they play. This whole thing is so stupid...I really thought they were gunna be like...we changed our minds...we got more viewers & better ratings bc Philip and so many others are back...(and JONATHAN is comin back in a few weeks too!) As of Sept 18th @ 11am I will be boycotting cbs....& p & g products since this is their fault too!!!

This is very sad news. We are all broken hearted over losing the best Soap Opera in the history of soaps. Guiding Light is not only the longest running show, it is the best by far for actors, characters, you name it. All the good actors coming back is just their way of staying true to the show and saying goodbye with us. For that we are thankful. Good luck to all the stars of our favorite show. We will follow you wherever you lead, if we can. God speed.

I agree with both Victoria and dolphin!They said it all!Tho there is a poster daysfan1965 on soapcentral.com and a few others who are still trying to save GL!Im gonna help them.Maybe GL will end,maybe not.Check out that poster!And if GL does really go off in Sept.I think it will take a break to make improvents and go on another network in a year or so and then *poof!*CBS will be the ones cancelled!Haha!Improvments like SL's,peapack,writing team,get new characters and old,etc.Lets hope for the best!~GL Shine On!=)

I did read recently on soapcentral.com that Y&R has be renewed for 2 years, but with stipulations: more budget cuts ahead.

I just can not believe Guiding Light will be gone.  I have watched this since I was a little girl which is probably at least 40+ years.  I agree too many talk shows on the air right now and I am not watching another one.  I will just turn to channel 8 and watch GH which I normally watch at night on Soap Net.

What are they going to replace Guiding Light with? Procter & Gamble should had TRIED to put Guiding Light in syndication like other production companies did with former daytime shows such as Family Feud,Wheel of Fortune that once aired on CBS>GUIDING LIGHT WILL STILL LIVE ON

I have never watched a soap before a day in my life . Untill my friend got me hooked on GL about a year ago and i love it and now i find out they are cancel the show. I am  and i WILL NEVER watch CBS for anything EVER again after they kill the only show i look foward to all week this sux bad
