Ok, so it’s been a bit since my last installment, so here we go. Holiday Season, Whoopee Fu*kin Whoopee….this is only fun if you’re like 9! Once you have to pay your own bills this is basically a time to buy everybody else stuff when you can’t afford gas. Oh, and did I mention seeing your family. Which I love dearly, but it’s a haul to get up to see them, which leaves me with this quick post! I’m a little hesitant to divulge this information for fear of more traffic on my route, but oh well…Share the wealth, right!!!So, I-35 from Austin to Dallas sucks A$$! I hate it, it’s not pretty. There too much traffic and let’s not even get into what happens when it splits into I-35E and I-35W. So, I get creative and decide to try to take a bit longer route and see if my travels are more pleasant. So, I head out from North Austin, run up to Lampasas on to Glen Rose and then up to Dallas. It’s about 40 miles further and there’s a few more stops due to small towns, but it’s so pretty going through the Hill Country in Texas and Hamilton Texas is so quaint with its Victoria Style houses! You also go through Hico, of Billy the Kid infamy.....or so Young Guns II says! So, there ya go. My little secret! And I had to tell you that to tell you this! On the way there and back, both for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I noticed a little dive type bar in Liberty Hill and me being me, I thought….Damn I want to stop there and get a beer! But, with family in tow and either anticipating a long trip or tired from the long journey, I neglect to stop by. I try to find some information about this joint online, but was led in all kinds of different directions. But, I finally get the chance to run out there and visit with the folks at Bob’s Bar!

It’s awesome! A little small place where most of the patrons are like family if not family! I met the owner’s son Kirk and his wife Laura, who does web design amongst other things of which you can find information on at Laura Hyden's Website , and they were cool enough to sit with us and even bought us several beers! Liberty Hill is a small town Texas like I’m from and reminds me of home, but my hometown doesn't hav e a bar! Bob’s has several pool tables, a very large shuffleboard table, and everyone we met was really nice to us. So, to all my Texas Beer Maps friends……if you ever get bored of all the traffic in Austin, getting towed, shitty cops, obnoxious college kids, spending a mint, and the few other inconveniences that encompasses the music capital of Texas…..Take a little time off and run out to Liberty Hill and see the nice folks at Bob’s Bar! Be sure to have cash, cause they don’t take credit cards……and tell Bob, Kirk or Laura that the Texas Beer Maps guys send their love. Here’s their information if you wanna check to see if they’re having bands/karoke/etc.BOBS BAR40 N Highway 183LIBERTY HILL TXphone: 512.778.6918Best wishes to all and happy drinking!!!!DerekTexas Beer Maps
