Hearing G-d's voice, a question from one of my listeners.
Here is the actual email question:
Hi David,
I am a sheep according to John 1, though I do not hear his voice as it says in Matthew?!?!
Why do you think this is?
Another question please:
>
> It says my sheep hear my voice.
> I want to heat the LORD'S voice leading me, but I do not.
> So, how can I be sure I am a sheep?
Here is my reply:
What are you expecting to hear? Sometimes our expectations are not
what will happen. You may not be looking for an audible voice, but
are you kind of seeking for G-d to communicate in a way that you
desire? "G-d, speak to me like this and I know it is you". Or "I will
know it is G-d speaking to me because of this". Try to not put limits
on G-d. Let Him speak to you in the method and way that He see's fit.
Then you will not be expecting a certain form or fashion of
communication.
He may already be speaking and you may have not thought that He would
speak that way. See what I mean?
My Conclusion:
Let G-d speak and He will answer. It may be in ways that were never imagined. Look at Moses. G-d spoke to him through a burning bush! Who would have guessed that would have happened? What if Moses thought that G-d would never speak to me in a wilderness or through a plant? He may have passed right by that bush. What if he said that "G-d does not talk today as He did back then". Then would G-d speak to such a one who does not believe?
Seek the Father and Love Him with all of your heart and have no other g-ds before Him. Shema or Hearken unto Him alone. Deut 6:4 And do not expect for a certain answer to your prayer for Him to speak to you. And the obvious place that speaks without fail is the Scriptures. So seek there first and then all other forms of communication should agree with what was written and by the Scriptures you can determine if it is indeed G-d.
