“Words” - The theatrical ballet provides an eye-opening take on the power of words and their influence on today’s ever-changing society. Written or spoken, words are continuously propelling us through life. They lift us up, drag us down, wound us deeply or heal our hearts. Words have the power to break confidences, build life long alliances or start wars. Words can make or break us, both as individuals and as a society. The show raises philosophical questions on the profound effect of words by exploring clichés and general concepts such as love, money, and history. Are you encouraging or discouraging with your words of criticism, bitterness and judgment? What have you been saying lately?
“LOVERS” - The theatrical ballet is an adaptation of H. G. Robert’s controversial book success, “LOVERS.” The award-winning laureate poet’s short story book is based on actual relationships which seeks to explore the issue that might complicate romantic encounters and commitments.
The theatrical piece candidly explores relationships in our world today, highlighting that many people become involved in fleeting relationships all in search of love and romance. Most people really want to find true love, however in most cases they accept whatever comes their way, sacrificing their heart's desire for quick comfort that often times leave them lonelier than before. Most people wonder if it is possible to find the elusive "happily ever after" when it seems that so many of us are only committed until someone new comes along. Sex, sin and scandal… yes, the classics never seem to go out of style. But where has the love gone? DANCEWORDZ's works confront current social issues, encouraging the audience to reevaluate their position within society and their place within the world around them. “Words” and “LOVERS” will premiere on August 28th-29th, 2009 @ 7:30PM at the CMFA Art Space (914 Pulaski Street, Columbia, SC 29201). Seating is limited!
