Please promote your shows..
I'll save you some trouble.. just look at this top 10 list.
1. know what time you're playing.
2. know what time you're suppose to load in
3. tell some friends about the show
4. put up some fuckin' fliers, man.
5. be realistic. we love your band and love your talent, but business is business and if stevie ray vaughn could bring me only 5 people and 10 bucks worth of business, i would be forced to book him on monday night so i wouldn't get fired. I hate this more than anything, trust me. I've been where you've been before.
6. if you're playing on a weekend, get some people out.. for more info, see point 3.
7. when sound dude asks you to hit your kick drum during line-check, hit the motherfucker. don't puss around it and blow the roof when you start rockin.
8. understand that there are club costs when playing shows. that means that $100 comes out of the top of the door to pay for certain things.. 90% of clubs do this.. if they say they don't, they're lying to you.
9. tell your drummer not to break down his cymbols on stage when there is another band trying to load on. it really makes for the night to be stressful and chaotic when the bartenders are freaking out because the band won't stop playing because the guys before them wanted to break everything down on stage and talk to their buddies while doing so about how hard they rocked.
10. buy a tuner. if you don't own a tuner, don't play live. it sucks to hear you tune on stage up and down up and down and it's never really in tune.
ok, one more.
11. if you have to cancel, call the club. don't email. call call call call.
Thank ya much!
