Current mood:  focused
If anyone has ever read any of my blogs on my other page then they know that I'm really against everybody and they momma trying to rap. It seems to offend some people, particularly rappers or producers, that a "rapper/producer" would say these things. I'm glad that our next president hopeful could assist me on this.

The quote from Obama:

"You are probably not that good a rapper. Maybe you are the next Lil' Wayne, but probably not, in which case you need to stay in school," Obama, D-Ill., told a cheering crowd, brought to a standing ovation at a town hall meeting in Powder Springs, Georgia. The presumptive Democratic nominee was speaking about high school drop out rates and the need for people to be committed to working hard in school so they can get a job after school. Obama said he knows some young men think they can't find a job unless they are a really good basketball player. "Which most of you brothas are not," Obama, who played basketball in high school, a sport he continues to play to this day, said jokingly. "I know you think you are, but you're not. You are over-rated in your own mind. You will not play in the NBA." Source

I SWEAR THIS IS ALL I BE TRYING TO SAY!!!!!!!!!

He didn't say those things to try to kill your dreams. I think he just wants us to be realistic about what we can really achieve in our lives. Statistically the odds are against you in this industry. Sure you could stay at it for years and years and years and possibly get a break. Anythings possible! But think about how many people you know that do music and then think about how many of them have had a break where they are able to support themselves off of profits made from doing music. Now if you just do this for a hobby and in your free time, thats a different story. If you're one of the ones who have put all your eggs in this one basket then this is for you. I just wanna see our young black males do better. Its so much more to life than just music or basketball and there are so many other things you can try. Stay Blessed

I with you all the way man. I feel like our culture feeds off of trendy Ideals that create lucritive business. However; soon as this business is capitolized upon, it becomes saturated. The Rap market is completly saturated with "Rappers". And that is where I want to make my point.

There is a difference between a Rapper and an MC and the difference starts with TALENT. If you hate being in writing class and/or cannot dictate a damn thing...but expect to write 16 bars of pure, amazing content...then you are a rapper. Rappers are simple to understand and do not challenge the lister for deeper meanings. An MC - on the otherhand, creates an experience for a lister...creates a feeling. Its emotional to listen to an MC. most of the time you just hear a beat on a rapper. You have to take the time to learn your craft...Too many producers no-a-days can not even play instruments...
And Jigg...you know what im talking about....

These "BEATMAKERS" sit around and do everything on the CPU - no Midi -- no live anything ...If you want to produce...BE a COMPOSER...make a composition...take the time to learn your craft.

Last...If you want to be a basketball player....Study Fundamentals...not AND1 mixtapes.
---

Maybe this will allow people to see what Hard work and dedication means. Making an album has nothing to do with the amount of time you spend in a Booth, being in the NBA or doing music has to do with actual Talent -- and knwolegde of your field......its about the amount of time you take to educate yourself so that you can become more effective and efficient at your craft....APPLY THAT TO THAT ASS. ...Im with you Jig. and Im with Obama on that.

One.

DAMN! Marques' hit it righton point! couldn't have put it better! An "ARTIST" enjoys a challenge, enjoys the art, enjoys breaking down metaphors, reaching out to a listener or reader and challenging them to understand the content......A "rapper" can just get on any whack simple ass nitty beat ranging of 2 notes, a wood block sound, a symbol at every break, a high pitched snare roll, and a 808 kick and talk about money, cars, and shit they dont have mimicking somebody whos already out.....where's the creativety?!?!....Check me out though.....got new collabs up with sean kingston and plies! haha....funny huh? yep another rapper? nah Im a artist though. stay up jiggolo, dont know you but can tell you got ethic...-Keize-
