The Salt Lake City Police and Fire Departments and Police Mutual Aid Association invite the children of Salt Lake City to an Annual Halloween Party at the Public Safety Building, 315 E. 200 S., from 1-5 p.m. Friday, October 30.

Children with an accompanying adult are welcome to visit the Public Safety Building to have their picture taken with Police Chief Chris Burbank or Fire Chief Kurt Cook; trick or treat in many offices; explore police and fire vehicles; and meet members of SWAT, K-9, Motors, Bomb Squad, Mobile Neighborhood Watch, Pioneer and Liberty Patrol, and Buster, the robotic K-9, among others.

In addition, the Utah Museum of Natural History will bring bugs and bats from its collection and give out free children’s passes while supplies last; docents from Utah’s Hogle Zoo will display a variety of spooky creatures; members of Clown Alley will tie balloons; and Subway restaurants will provide Child ID Kits. Education material about Proposition 1 will be available for adults, as well.

This event is free and open to the public. Many thanks to Smith’s Food & Drug Stores and Costco for providing Trick-or-Treat bags and candy.

Tips for a Safe Halloween: Carry a flashlight and travel in a group. Make sure adults accompany children at all times. Never enter a stranger’s car or home. Check treats before allowing children to eat anything. For more Halloween safety tips in English and Spanish, visit www.slcpd.com or the Police Department’s pages on MySpace, Facebook and YouTube.
