So I have completed the Nanowrimo contest, and am a winner. I'm too tired to fight with the html, so you'll just have to take my word for it. I have written over 50,000 words this past month, started a new Open Mike at the Grind Coffeehouse in Bellmore every Monday, and played 4 weekend shows. Somehow I fit the novel into there, although I don't really know how. And I worked overtime tonight because it was the end of the month. The novel is completed as far as word count goes, although I definately need an editor, or need to do the editing, and may need to add some more words. Either way, I'm sure I would be able to figure things out with it eventually.
The plan is now to release the novel in conjunction with the long delayed album sometime in Spring 2006. I don't know how realistic that is, as I may end up just releasing the novel instead of the album, rather than in addition to. Still I have all of these songs which I'm looking to record, and the recorder, but haven't yet done so. It'll happen when it does, but until then...
As usual, I have a couple of shows in December, and will be probably playing a few more as the opportunities arise. Excitement will ensue, as I'll be continuing my writing for a local music rag, Aural Fix. Look for a record review in the January issue, and a feature in February, if all goes according to plan. Every Monday, I host the open mic at the Grind Coffee, and we've started to podcast it. This Friday, December 2nd, I'll be playing at the Cup Coffeehouse starting at around 8, and be celebrating my novel, so please do come out to join in the celebration! Also, if you are free the next Friday, I'll be playing at the Conklin Barn in Huntington, performing a couple of covers of other local artists, and perhaps they will be performing some of mine as well...
I suppose that's what's going on for this month and next. Hope everyone's had a tasty turkey or turkey substitute, and will continue to celebrate the good times for their December holidays. Feel free to place orders for advance copies of the novel by email admin@mattjasper.com
