Green On Set Tip #4: Ink
Cartridges

Call sheets, production
reports, sides, exhibit Gs, memos, talent contracts, scripts; a lot
of printing takes place on and off set! Depending on the printer,
ink can go pretty quick. Recycle your empties! Recycling ink
cartridges and toner is just one of the many services Green On Set
provides. Some ink companies include self addressed envelopes in
their packaging for recycling empty ink cartridges.

Big box stores, like Best
Buy, and Office Max will take the empties if your new cartridge did
not come with an envelope. Ink cartridges can also be refilled for
less than half the cost of the initial cartridge. Don't be fooled,
ink cartridges say “one time use only” but that's not true. The
ink companies print this message on their ink cartridges so the
consumer buys NEW cartridges every time.

When printing preliminary
call sheets or production reports choose the “draft” setting on
your printer. This cuts down on the amount of ink, saving you more
ink for the more important documents.
