Hiya all,

Just letting you know I have a new version of "You're My Only Vice" on my player. I am constantly tweeking all my songs, but I normally don't change my songs on my player unless there is something that I am truely not happy with. The little changes I am saving for when I release the CD.

This is a bit of an exception as I have now put drums on the song, thus giving it a new lease of life. I was listening to a test version of it in my car the other week and I thought "What this song needs is a nice 6/8 shuffle on drums". So, I jumped into the studio, composed the drum tracks and layed it down. I think it adds a bit of extra dimension to it and I hope you enjoy this new version of "Your My Only Vice". I have also made some very subtle changes which only dogs, cats and aliens from the planet Melmac can spot.

Just letting you know that I am currently working on three new songs, so hopefully you will hear something new on my player very soon. They are all very different and I am extremely excited about them. Until then, I hope you enjoy what's on my player and feel free to drop by any time for a listen or just to say hi.

Don't forget to chuck twenty cents in my tin cup on the way out.

Yours in music,

Jamie

I really like the lyrics, Jamie. Your voice is rich and deep, perfect for this song. I listened to Dail Chuinnidh again too (twice) , and enjoyed it so much I added it to my profile play box. There is something which reminds me of a saxophone near the end of this song ("Vice"), but I know it’s not that. Is it your harmonica? It’s beautiful.

I was looking around your profile page while I listened, and I noticed you were holding a twelve string guitar. I have two nice ones that I never touch. One is a Fender and the other an Epiphone. If I knew how to mail something that large to Australia, I would send you one of them. They are taking up a lot of room here, and I don’t know anyone who plays them now that my brother is dead. These two were not his, it was me thinking I would learn and giving in to a bargain. 12 strings are hard to play, especially as I have no talent for it.

Thank you for sharing your music.
Shirley

Hi Shirley,

Thanks for dropping by for a listen. I admit, I had a lot of fun writing the lyrics for this one. I'm glad you liked my voice on this song. And thank you for adding Dail Chuinnidh to your player. It means a lot to me. Hopefully I will have another Celtic song up soon. Though it won't be an original, it is one of my favourite traditional folk songs. Yes, that is a harmonica at the end. I couldn't resist blowing a bit of harp on this one. It is a reed instument, so I suppose it is the evil offspring of a saxaphone and an accordian

Yes, I do love my Takamine 12 string guitar. After buying that one I could never be unfaithful to another acoustic guitar. It is such a beautiful thing to play and sounds great. Oooohhh...Epiphone and fender. Very nice. You never know, you may still yet to play them. You just need to get used to the subtlety in the srumming. A bit of practice and you'll get there no problems.

Take good care of yourself & I hope you get some sleep there.

Beannachd leat,

Jamie

Not being from Melmac subtle changes are lost on me.

But I do know I enjoy this every time I listen.

Twenty cents on its way.

Take care of yourself

Hi David,

Thanks for dropping by for a new listen. I'm glad you still like the tune and find it enjoyable. It's always a pleasure to hear from you.

20 cents? I think that is about two and a half p by current exchange rates

Take care my friend,

Jamie

The drums certainly do add another dimension and more depth. Well done. :-)
I'm glad to see all the tweaking is going well. Though like others, the subtle changes you've made are undetectable to my ears.
I've no doubt in the end it adds an all round smoother and fuller feel that we can feel and appreciate we just don't have the innate knowledge of it as you do. :-)
Good luck with your other three songs. I'm sure they'll come up great. When I emerge from my studio I'll don the tea lady hat at regular intervals to keep those musical juices flowing.

Thanks for continuing to share your self, and your music with everyone.
You're doing a great job!

Yours always.

Hi Tikarma,

I'm glad you liked the new version of the song and enjoyed the drums on it. That's great to hear that you think they add an extra depth to the song. Well, the subtle changes are very subtle . But, I suppose it has to sound better for my poor damaged ears in order to give my best for everyone.

I'm looking forward to seeing you in your tea lady outfit. I'll have to go down to one of the antique shops in Strath and buy a tea trolly  so we each can do the rounds when the other is in their respective studios.

Thank you for your continuing support of my music. It means the world to me.

Love always & forever,

Jamie

Hi Robin,

Thanks for dropping by for a listen. I'm glad you liked .

I can commute no problems as long as you're not using the lear jet that weekend. Just remember to stock up the bar properly this time. Oh, and it is single malt. Not that Johny Walker blue stuff.

Take care my friend,

Jamie
