OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM ALFA MATRIX (Zombie Girl's European label) REGARDING THE MURDER CASE OF CARLY RYAN.

It's with great horror that Zombie Girl and Alfa Matrix learned that the tragic death of 15-year old Carly Ryan, brutally murdered in 2007, has been linked with Zombie Girl's "Blood Brains & Rock 'N' Roll" album in an article in the UK newspaper
"I am shocked, horrified and saddened that a young girl and a fan of Zombie Girl was murdered. My heart goes out to her family and friends. This is a terrible thing. I am just in shock right now. The music and image that I portray on stage is an act. It is not who I am. This is not what the music is about."
Carly Ryan was murdered by a fictitious teenager called Brandon - a father and his son who are now accused of murdering her.

Alfa Matrix and the band want to stress that they do not promote this kind of online behaviour nor does the band or the label promote violence via the music of the Canadian based electro dance act Zombie Girl. The band can in no way be held responsible for other people's actions. Sebastian R. Komor:
"I want to send my regards to the family and friends of Carly Ryan. May she be in a place where she found peace. I strongly dislike having my music brought up in something as horrible as murder. And have never promoted violence of any kind, whether to humans or animals. Zombie Girl is fictional and just a fun project dealing with the topics of the living dead and all that. To have my music mentioned in a case like this really bothers me. Music is the only thing in the world still making people happy, get together and dance. Rest in peace Carly Ryan, I'm so sorry someone did this to you."
Alfa Matrix and Zombie Girl stress that they wish to express their sincere condolances to the family of Carly Ryan.
The Daily Mail which was published on Monday, October 19th 2009.

Both Zombie Girl members Renee Cooper and Sebastian R. Komor were shocked to learn that their band and material has been used in reference to young girls posing in a provocative way on social websites. Renee Cooper:

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense for them to specifically bring up the fact that she listened to your music. They could of just as easily brought up the fact that maybe she was a fan of eating fruit loops for breakfast. God rest her soul.

Yet another murder blamed on a subculture of which the masses are shamefully ignorant.  This is a universal threat hiding with bared teeth on every social networking site in existance, yet somehow there are those capable of still spinning such stories to hurt innocent people by breeding extreme discrimination against a culture.  RIP Carly.

it's horrible how they blame the music these days in any situation concerning death and most rock music...like the guy who killed a few students at a college campus and then offed himself, they blamed Megadeath and "A Tout Le Monde"...or the Columbine killings that happened in Littleton Co...they blamed Mason for that (and ICP if I remember); then there's Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Eminem and so many more different artists...ppl need to understand that when someone creates an alias/stage character in the music industry its all for SHOW!!! I'm sorry to hear that this time it was your music involved. Hopefully it doesn't cause alot of backlash towards your band and your loyal fans stay loyal...which i have no doubt they will.

This article was very biased about Vampire Freaks...  the article didn't even cover that stuff like this happens on all social networking sites. It's terrible that a murder was commited, but being linked to the gothic website as THE direct cause?  I'm sure that myspace or facebook wouldn't have gotten a bashing of that degree.... even though people meet up through myspace and fbook all the time.

Music is a reflection of emotional states and experiences. It is not a catalyst for bahavior... it is the RESULT of what one has done or felt. It is about synergy, not about control. It can't MAKE you do anything, it is what you listen to when you feel like something. Anyone who blames music or faults music simply wants to relinquish control of their actions or those of someone else in order to take an easy way out. Zombie Girl music is feel good music and in my opinion, has NO negaticity in any of it's lyrics or beats. It celebrates a genre of classic cinema and a pleasurable, physical experience of dance and social activity. It is in no way related to anything vile or derrogatory.

Hey Zombie Girl darling, they did the same thing to Marilyn Manson on many occasions. An artist can only be an artist and cannot dictate whom chooses to listen to the music. On the other hand if the killer were obsessed with "The Smiths" it's doubtful it would get media coverage. The media sees things through two dimensional glasses.

apparently the world has learned nothing from judas priest and the beatles
as terrible as it is murders have always and will always take place
mainly because some people dont know any better or just dont care
it is a shame to point fingers at innocent musicians, but the religious fanatics feel that they need someone to blame and if not books, music or movies or video games or cartoons who can they blame
its a shame

This is just one more case in many over the years. Music (especially harder forms like metal and its subgenres) pops up in the news here and there as the responsible party in a whole host of awful acts (Charles Manson gave some credit to the Beatles' White Album for 'inspiring' him in his evil deeds - fucking insane!!). Judas Priest was accused of inspiring suicide, as was Ozzy Osbourne. The list goes on and on. Why do you think we had the PMRC in the mid-eighties? It's all the same: people can't face the truth about free will and they feel the need to find someone to blame. In turn, the artists suffer.

and all the while we're supposed to feel sorry for neglectful parents who let there teenage daughter meet strangers off the internet...sounds like logic to me; some people make me sick, and to drag vf and zg through the mud because some pedotard lied and the girls parents let her meet these ppl unsupervised, that's outrageous.

they's another story blaming horrorcore because some wanna be rapper killed a girl, her family and a friend then sat at the house for 4 days playing with the bodies. but your suppose to sympathize for the parents who brought this stranger into there home whom they didnt know, because their daughter might have run away if they hadn't..give me a break

Who Are You?

I'm sorry that someone has implied you in something like this. I remember KMFDM getting the finger pointed at them after Columbine, and the ensuing backlash of being a trenchcoat and KMFDM t-shirt wearing goth. My step-dad sat on the jury when the parents of some kid in Reno tried to accuse Judas Priest of encouraging their kid to kill himself with "subliminal messages". This people that point the finger are all reactionaries and extremists looking for someone to blame, and rock-n-roll, and all of it's varying evolutions, have gotten the blame for it since it came into being. Hold your head high and make sure that people know that you are not to blame for this. And P.S. I still wear KMFDM shirts and a trenchcoat, and my dad got Rob Halford to sign his copy of Hell Patrol after they won the case. ;) Never back down.

first off let me start off by saying that this is one f'ed up story. sotroies like this one make me sick. that is awful with what happened to that girl. just goes to show what kind of sick people can be on the internet.

as for the zombie girl link to this is  from what i gathered (and forgive me if i'm slow on the uptake here) from the news blurb is that because you have your music up on vampirefreaks.com (so do other Gothic industrial artists) your music some how advocates muder? ok so if that's the way the "media" wants to put it then  lets look at it this way then ( and i don't mean any disrespect to anyone im just twisting this back on the media):myspace is  a vampirefreaks like  networking site. so when some one get lured off of myspace and is murdered lets show that myspace music artists advocate murder as well.  so since that don't make a hell of alot of sense i think the media should just stick to the issue here: WATCH WAHT YOUR KIDS DO ONLINE !  not the music off a website or the people on the website WATCH THE KIDS beacuse sick f$#ks like this in the world exist and the best step one can take to protecting their kids is WATCH WHAT THEY DO!

Ugh. I was horrified when I read that article. Someone nobody journalist just hoppe on vampirefreaks and pulled out what they percieved as the most "shocking" and "horrific" aspects of the site, all for shock value, and took no time to get to know the site or even try and understand the subculture. It's disgusting when people try this, they assume that all goth kids are hypersexual murder loving fiends, when most are as loving and nice as kids belonging to other subcultures.

Does this REALLY suprise you? Remember the murders by Charles Manson's people? They stained the walls with blood of the victims using the words HELTER SKELTER.....a song by the Beatles. And Mr. Manson said the Beatles influenced his murderous acts.
..I have met many murderers in my buisness, and if they can avoid Guilt and a sentence of life in prison or the death penalty, they will blame ANYONE for the act. I have seen people blame their mother, their father, their brother....ANYONE they can prove close association with....Hell! Even the Son Of Sam, a serial killer in New York, would'nt take the blame for his murders....He said that his neighbor's dog....Sam.....was telling him to kill.......Does that mean that poor Sam the dog should take responsiblity for these murders? Should Sam stand trial? If a jury trial determined that Sam had, in fact, dangerously influenced the murders by David Berkowitz...i.e SON OF SAM....Should the dog be sentenced to a dog's short life in prison or the Death penalty....Exscuse me...life in prison for Sam..New York does not have the death penalty unless you consider living in the Bronx a death sentence.

Oh it's the Daily Mail, there's a surprise. I wouldn't pay any attention to what this so called 'newspaper' writes. This is what they do. There have been countless of these sorts of stories. The Daily Mail is the 'moral teacher' and is the UK's version of the Chrisitan Right. It's an awful and vile propaganda machine.

Seriously? The little "blurb" about VF wasn't even well written. It was like the writer's personal little keep your kids off goth public service announcement. Not to mention that the article said nothing of the site being a social networking website, maybe it could be inferred, maybe. Though, if I didn't know any better I would garner that vampire freaks was a goth porn/prostitution site from that. "To this day"?! To this day, as though proprietors of a website are supposed to play parent to the world. All this from a rather seasoned journalist at that, someone who should know a little something of censorship.

All that aside, I am truly sorry that a young girl died. I feel for them (her family), and I don't want to belittle the main issue there. People need to also face that if it wasn't her, it would have been someone else. This was planned. Maybe not the death, but everything else. I do believe in innocent until proven guilty, and no facts are released about how they took part in her death.

The whole thing reeks of how the global media simply likes goth bashing. It's all okay in their eyes though, as it's a simple choice, not a lifestyle-choice.

That is awful. Everyone should know by now people are responsible for their own
actions. Seriously, enough with the modern day version of "The Devil made me do it"
and start taking responsibilty. If you make a mistake or harm someone in any way, unless
it's in self-defense, you have no one to blame but yourself.

I find it sad that people are still trying to link brutal acts of inhumanity with any kind of art.  People are responsible for their own actions.  The claim that someone's performance and music influenced them to be horrible, sadistic creatures is absolute nonsense.  If someone is going to behave in that manner, they could listen to [insert arbitrary music genre here] and STILL behave that way.

My heart goes out to the girl's family, but trying to blame someone else for the incident is pointing fingers in the wrong direction.

It's really unfortunate when things like this happen.  If the girl was a country fan or teddy bear collector on this website or Facebook then it would be reported as an unfortunate murder story with no other mention of her hobbies or musical tastes but somehow if it's someone from a subculture they always feel the need to link in websites and bands then somehow alude to or blatantly state that they are partly responsible when it's in no way the case.

There is already so much discrimination against the culture along with really sad and untrue stereotypes.  I personally find it really irresponsible news reporting.

I'm sorry that you got brought up in this article - I would be horrified too as it is really obvious that what happened to her is nothing at all what you or or music is about.

There will be always stereotypes in today's society. We've seen it all - Columbine, the moral majority and the Christian Right blamed Marilyn Manson, KMFDM, the gothic subculture, Doom II and the Second Amendment. When Virginia Tech happened, they went after the mentally ill, horror and violent fiction writers, and the First Amendment. But the main point, no matter what they say or pass any knee-jerk reaction law, people still KILL. It's a part of nature, somebody is born, somebody's gotta die. People who think that blaming guns, DooM or Stephen King's RAGE for such violent acts cannot comprehend the cold, hard facet of the real world. No such thing as a 'peaceful' utopia exists in this world. Only a rock and a hard place.

It's about fuckin' time to truly separate fact from fallacy. No more bullshit from the moral majority or the goddamn Christian Right.

"The place they go towards is a place even less imaginable to us than the city of happiness. I cannot describe it at all. It is possible it does not exist. But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas." - LeGuin

Just needed to put up some of my thoughts.
