Wow, this movie had me in tears. This masterpiece from the Farrelly Brothers is a deep and moving insight into the tragic lives that are led by society’s lesser brilliant minds.
Jim Carey, better known for his comedy performances, astounded me with his gripping depiction of Lloyd Christmas, a simple man, trying to make his way to Aspen to return a briefcase he’d found at an airport.
Christmas, despite his idiocy, along with his equally challenged friend Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) overcome numerous obstacles on their trip to the American mountains, in a story of friendship, commitment and love.
The scene that I found most moving was when the duo, having finally arrived in Aspen, penniless and frozen, realised that they didn’t actually know the name of the briefcase’s owner. Their struggle was utterly heart wrenching.
This is truly inspiring story that’ll leave you shouting “So you're telling me there's a chance”. Brilliant.
