As some of you know, I've recently moved into my first home. It has been taking up alot of my "musical time". But I have been able to spend some time on one track that I am particularly fond of: Mountains of Madness.
Over the past several weeks I have posted various versions in increasingly developed forms on my myspace player. On an earlier version, a drummer friend of mine, Jason Novalis, was inspired to transcribe the drum part that I programmed with Reason 4.0 and video taped himself playing it. You can see that video on my main page. Given the complexity of the part and the time changes (and the fact that he's actually playing the drums w/o hearing the song), he did a killer job!
The newest posted version of "Mountains of Madness" is the first version I've posted with vocals. The song title and lyrics are influenced from H.P. Lovecraft's short story, 'At the Mountains of Madness'. Several of you have asked what the lyrics are, so I'll post them here:
Take a simple ride
into the Mountains of Madness.
You see your friends all die -
you spin and wonder why
the fire lies on both sides
the fire lies on both sides
Whispers from an astral grave
are luring you deeper down.
The screams of an early day
have caused you to go insane.
the fire lies on both sides
the fire lies on both sides
Leopard dance with fire snake
tell me what the future make
eyes that cried for a place to rest
at the wake for the House of Dawn.
