I have been following the plight of Senator Larry Craig and his wide stance. It is funny that he was arrested in the MIA (Minneapolis International Airport) a place that I ride past on the light rail almost everyday now on my way to work. But that is not the whole of it. He is standing in a long line of social conservatives waiting to use a stall (he he). The man who has championed 'family values Legislation' has some one who is the very person who he is trying to marginalize!  HA! I can gloat about all of the others, the televangelist, and the congressmen who had a thing for the congressional pages.

Lets start at the beginning. He went in to a bathroom stall that was known for solicitations of gay sex. That's why the cop was there. Craig then used a signal, which my gay neibor tells me is called Tap Tap Slid, which is supposed to be unmistakable as to not have any 'embarrassing accidental encounters'.  He was then detained, and questioned, at which point he whips out his business card, as if that would get him off the line automatically, it didn't, He then trys in a pathetic attempt to pass tap tap slide of to his wide stance. It was kind of sad listening to him lie.

A month later Senator Larry Craig Pleads guilty, and tells no one, probity not even his wife. But he also didn't tell his constituents. WOW! This is amazing, he is now a convicted criminal, and is not doing any thing about it!! And those people lambaste Clinton.  It gets better.

He holds a press conference, and as it starts, he says: "Thanks for coming OUT". I am laughing my ass off. A week later he gets half an ounce or two of wisdom, so he decides that he INTENDS to resign. But he only intends to resign he actually wont, he still thinks that he is not gay. This is possibly the greatest and most public case of denial I have ever seen. Next he will blame his being gay on his wide stance.

Now I guess some one will say Why is it such an outrage that a republican makes a moral misstep when democrats do it all the time (I read Ann Coulters articles) I know precisely what those people will say. Now let's look at it this way, the social conservative agenda makes no room for human fault, the Christianity that the claim to defend is far more forgiving. They seem to have this ideal, and when some one breaks from the idea, they are damaged- goods. So if one of there own does the human thing and breaks from that ideal, what happens is that every one is surprised. We expect people to practice what they preach, even politicians. The social conservatives have dug them selves in to a hole, a dark dingy hole with lots of bathroom stalls. The liberals don't have this problem because they say (and I am quoting bill Clinton here): "I have a problem that my family and I need to deal with". They by default leave out the implication that they have sinned against god and are therefore a disappointment to the nation, Just a disappointment to there families.
