This week I kept on networking. I made a coffee date for an informational interview with a choreographer whose work I like, and a tentative date to speak with another. I signed up for "Becoming Commons" at Headlands Center for the Arts later this month, a conversation with artists about building community. A friend of mine told me when I graduated that I should find two kinds of groups to join, one professional organization to keep my professional profile active, and a group of peers who share a personal investment in the kind of work I do - people with whom I could get coffee and discuss a great show, or see a movie to blow off steam. I haven't found this sort of circle yet, but maybe this is not a common thing in the performance field. Anyway, I want to go to this event to share my experiences.
