After a month-long hiatus QLiterati! is back! Event sponsors,
Curve magazine and Portland's
Q Center, are proud to announce that the increasingly popular queer and transgender literary series returns next week, January 14th (7-9 pm) 2009 with a 'dangerous' line-up.
Headlined by Portland's critically acclaimed, 'dangerous writing' guru
Tom Spanbauer, January's QLit also features Curve Editor-in-Chief,
Diane Anderson-Minshall debuting
Blind Faith, the third installment of the
Blind Eye mystery seriesthat is already garnering attention via its dark
book trailer and politically relevant material revolving around a religious-based educational institute that is bent on turning LGBT teens straight—or dead.
Joining Spanbauer and Anderson-Minshall on stage will be Blackout Leather Productions
Rose & Thorn Awards 2008 Leatherwoman of the Year,
I.G. Frederick reading her own dangerous and sexually charged work; and trans woman Joyce Colson whose poetry addresses the perilous journey between genders.
At QLit! half the fun is listening to emerging authors read during the open mic period. Past favorites include Flaming Chef
Jason Zenobia,
Jennifer (aka Bruce the drag king) Lanier and weaver of the gay erotica that seems to thrill gay and lesbian audiences alike--
Kal Cobalt.
But, wait, there's more! There always is: QLiterati! hostesses provides free gourmet snacks, door prizes, and an engaging author Q&A where those who ask questions are rewarded with homemade cookies.
