Death Revealed
(A Tribute to Loved Ones Lost)
Beyond my memories to something more, I still have thoughts of you before You went away, your body still, Left on earth, where you were killed.
There's a shadow where you once stood. I really tried to do the best I could To leave my heart an open door So you could be here just once more.
But there can't be a last embrace, Not one more chance to see your face. For you are gone without a trace. And my heart is left a cold, dark place.
Remember me in the night, in dreams, For life's much shorter than it seems.
This poem is about the friends and family that I have lost in the past. I wanted to explore the emotion of each of their deaths in this poem and really pay them all a tribute. I am trying also to help people to understand the sheer brevity of life and its preciousness. The attempt I made here was to really be a comfort to myself and to those who have had people they love pass away.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
