"If you don't bust your ass when you are 20, no one will love you when you are 30."

Because of this quote alone, I have decided I am going to try my hardest to make my 20th year of living the best year possible so far. My goals are as follows:

1. Lose 30-40 pounds before my birthday. I have until May 24th 2008 to reach my goal. I need to get back into shape for many reasons- to feel healthy and have better self esteem and to present myself in a better fashion.

2. Have a solo art show at The Flying M- or any other place that has art shows.

3. Have more Boise Weekly covers.

4. Work with larger/more well known bands. Maybe work for a venue to get hired for gig posters.

5. Start/finish my website and make it the best website I possibly can. Have it finished by June 1st.

6. Have my art published in Ruby Magazine..

7. Find an apartment and move out. Or find a house with a group of people that are willing to have house shows.

8. Make even more friends. Network more.

9. Have more shows with Zach. Work on new music and become a stronger band.

10. Design tshirts and have them printed through Threadless and other excellent companies.

****These are in no particular order and I have all year to accomplish my goals except for goal 1 and goal 5****

my goals are to:
get a job at laika or equivalently neat and well-paying arty type fun

sell lots of art

become famous

run a kitten farm

hold a koala

mmk. most of these are quite unrealistic, but maybe, by a tiny chance at least one will happen.

hmmk. yes. juno was super fantastical. i haven't liked a movie like that in soo very long.

mmmmmmmmmmmk.

Where did your quote come from?

Also, the only goal I have this year is to pay $300 a month on my credit card, at least. Kind of boring/lame, but important nonetheless. Oh, that and get my @$%ing CD done.

These are great goals J-Boob! And I especially love the quote. I can't believe we're going to be 20, it's a little bit of a slap in the face though, so I'll probably put that quote at the top of my resolutions, just to remind me to not slack off! Here are a few goals so far:

to be vegetarian and not drink soda for one year (I have successfully kept the no soda resolution in the past, but no meat will be much trickier I'm sure)
get a passport
learn to cook (I bought a vegan cookbook that I'm excited to try out, I'm going to make one new dish a week)
take piano lessons again (because I want to continue to further cultivate that ability, and I miss that "outlet")
run the race at Roby Creek (because I'll have to be in great shape to do that, and then I can have my own T-shirt instead of stealing Tanya's)

Yay!

Very good goals... inspiring actually. I too need to get on track to lose some weight. I'm over 30, so nobody loves me AND my once-high metabolism isn't doing the trick anymore. I'd also need to makeover my website as soon as I finish my next video - which is a big goal and hurdle. I'd like to get a Weekly cover too, they were going to use an image of mine, but decided not to when they found out the same shot was in a show already. It would be cool to have some shirts on Threadless... where my wife and daughters picked out some rad new t-shirts for me for Christmas (and previous holidays). You play in a band? I've thought about taking guitar lessons this year and putting to use an electric guitar I won last year, but don't play much... I LOVE music, but have never had ANY natural aptitude in that direction.

Anyway... thanks for sharing the list! I too was curious where the quote came from. If it is true, you are sure to be smothered in love by 30... Does busting your ass at cookie stores and coffee shops while you're figuring life out count?

Are you still going to BSU? Let me know if you need a gym buddy! Once I'm there I don't mind it, but I'm not good at motivating myself to get down there. Anyway, those are great goals. My goals are to exercise (more than walking/riding my bike) at least once per week, to learn to sew more than just curtains and pillowcases, to learn to needle felt, and to see more live music. And also to learn to play an instrument, perhaps my dusty accordion or melodica that have been sitting in the closet for a while now. Hooray for fun goals!
