Today we turn a corner. We find ourselves in a brave new world. The age of bigotry has been muffled. I say muffled for it'll never be truly silenced. It still lingers in the minds of the intellectually mediocre. From the halls of the South that still sport Confederate flags and call it a sign of southern pride. Through every other part of our country. Parts where hatred is spewed in hushed tones. Tones that due to political correctness never eradicate hatred, only quiet them down.
We after 232 years of stupidity finally realized that we are not the beacon of equality we claim to be. Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest – lost to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door. That is on our front door. As of earlier years it has been replaced by one of those Yosemite Sam door mats that say "Back off" We are back to that beacon of hope.
Barrack Obama is the first black president of The United States of America. A greater achievement is not the electing of a minority but the electing of a potential honest man. We do not yet know exactly what he will do. I can't look into the future. I just have a feeling that has been missing for eight years. That feeling is hope. Divisiveness is gone with the way of the dinosaurs (or for you Republicans: Jesus Horses). It's time to come together under a banner of equality and work together. Realize that nothing productive will ever be accomplished without cooperation. It's up to us to achieve a new level of understanding. It's up to all of us to realize our collective fates are intertwined. Most importantly it up to all of us to get our heads out of asses and get to work. This is only the beginning.
