You know, I'm pretty surprised you guys opted to sell this music video through iTunes. $1.99 for a video to a song from a $3.99 album I already have? That just doesn't seem right.............You would think that putting it up on YouTube or elsewhere and getting it out there would serve as a much more effective promotional tool.

wouldn't there be some form of commission that would have to be paid to itunes for allowing the record company to sell the video through them? and isnt the idea of the record company to make money for themselves or to even pay the crew who made the video?........shouldn't always be that quick to judge

I'm just wondering why of all the bands out there who are trying to make money off their art, (and theres alot of shit out there) you chose this band? I am baffeld at what kind of dumb ass mis-guided kid does this kind of thing? I think its safe to assume that your the same type of douche that thought yoko broke up the beatles or got mad when dylan went electric or when Zack tryed to sell his video's (because they should just-be-free?) I saw your back ground image of ratm? We're they your favorite band, and your mad they broke up? Do you secretly love Zack? Do you like one day as a lion but don't want them to make any money from their music? ...Ooor is it contrived? Are you an agent for one of record labels that Zack turned down because they wanted to make all the money? "What side are you on?"

look ma.. he can spell capitalist. dont be mad that i like to support artists that mean a lot to me and to the world. so what they are selling their video that you unfortunately cant afford. i can,so yes, i will buy it, have my treat, wake up in the morning, and watch my video. over and over like the robotic capitalist that i am. because i want to support artists so important to me, i am now a capitalist? heaven forbid you ever do anything with your life and want people to support your efforts. Its good to support those you love. i will buy it for MARIA's sake .....Stay Blessed. and beautiful . love to you sweet brotha.

lol... you bring such smiles to my face. i am growing quite fond of you. i am in no class above anyone...but i can walk around my house, look under seat cushions and in my car, give up driving thru for fast food one day, for the sake of this video. it is 8 quarters...that is what i am saying. i dont mind paying for a video i can take anywhere with me on my ipod is what i am saying. i support the cause is what i am saying. you never won before, love. its not a competition. its me saying i support the cause and you coming on here and talking down to every person that doesnt mind purchasing the video. saying we are sheep and capitalists and and and .... so the next concert that they have if i happen to see you at it, I'll be sure to hand you your IM A CAPITALIST SHEEP t-shirt to proudly wear for purchasing your concert ticket. maybe let go of all the anger inside you. do you need a hug? ill give you a hug. ill buy you the video for you if youd like . we can be bff .

Your attempts at sarcasm are quite meager at best, and your response to my criticisms is straight out of a 4th grade teacher's handbook on how to tell kids to handle bullying. Whatever happened to never settling? Ah, we, collectively, have settled. That's the problem. Nobody thinks that anything is worth the fight. In line with sarcasm, you seem to be inept at recognizing sarcasm. You want to know what buying this video really makes you? Does it make you a capitalist? Not outright, no - obviously (the fact that I just wasted time on that sickens me), see, what it makes you is more likely to compromise in the future. Something just a little bit more costly - because you think you're getting a deal on something that is already available for free. Listen, honey - when you pay for anything that you can get for free, you've essentially been had by some external force that has bestowed upon your mind that it is A) necessary for you to have something, and B) that you should actually pay some medium so that it may be given to you. Also, I don't need your links, I have little interest in the video to begin with, my gripe doesn't necessarily lie with the fact that it is being sold, but more the fact that you "supporters of the cause" will actually mock that message and pay for it. Somewhere, Zack is hopefully shaking his head. You could have gotten it for free, darling. You have fallen victim to the false premise presented before you, as I stated above, that you need something so badly (that you really don't need anyway) that you will give up capital to attain ownership over it. You have missed the point. Also, again, I would like to point out that you previously mocked my ability to come into ownership of the video - which is among the more shallow ways of insulting someone by the way, by assuming that I could not afford it. Following this assumption, based on absolutely nothing as you don't know me, you attempted to throw in my face the fact that you could afford it - also something that cannot be proven by the way. I'm sorry, chicky, I'm not some 16-year old who is jealous of the kids who had cars bought for them by their parents, or the type of cell phone another "kid" might have. Many people can afford a lot of things that I can't, and it doesn't bother me, I don't base character on material possession, or the ability to make purchases of the items that others may covet. Your attempt to somehow demean me for this is proof that the most important aspects of the "message" are lost on you, and everyone else who feels that it isn't such a big deal to compromise here, and compromise there. While you're all busy giving things up, what are we gaining? What is the other side giving up? The essential one-sided nature of the contemporary consumerism game is worrying for people like me because every single day relatively like-minded individuals are being bought out by the other side. It's just easier to make a little concession and live life thinking that all is great while the people who take action stand before dwindling masses, and face increasing scrutiny by the people we are trying to help. It's not entirely your fault, dear. Perhaps, though, you can truly open your mind to the parameters of this fight that we're all in. Are you with me? Are you against me? Or are you among the growing throngs of people who have turned off their minds to what surrounds them hoping that safety, security, and the permission to buy what you please bring you what you need to justify shutting voices like mine out and mitigating what I'm trying to say? Are you one of the masses that believes they are truly individual, or are you an individual?

"We" are not "one". Not by a long shot. The principles of the message must be sustained. True change has always come with sacrifice. To even relate the great sacrifices of the world's true revolutionary spirits to that of an American opting to not spend money on something completely worthless is revolting, but I think it brings much needed perspective. I could go on a lengthy tirade listing all of the shit I do, and try to do, but there's no way to prove it. Hopefully my insistence on this whole matter speaks some volume to my own principles and commitment to realizing the world we all surely fantasize about (we are talking about Zack De La Rocha here). People have died trying to accomplish what is passively being priced away right now. Yet, we can't give up a music video. The joke is on us.

No, it isn't. Sorry, but as versed as you are in the heavy opinions of paying for "art", you know virtually nothing of revolution and the sacrifice involved to attain it. To take one step, on behalf of everyone in this thread, is to NOT pay for this video - THAT is the message, homeboy.<br />

so are you pretending that you are not playing the capitalists game?....Making money is not inherently evil, it is the unjust distribution of it.....The evil is when the people working, creating the wealth are taken advantage of and people NOT doing the work get more of the wealth.....Do you have a job? Did you PAY for your internet access... with what money... did you make someone pay you a couple bucks for your work? Was that wrong?....We live in a capitalists system... like it or not... preach against it or not... so when we go to the store to buy food we need MONEY and that makes us play within the system regardless of our various views on how much better a different system could be.

Right. You were developing an argument, and then you just stopped. What is your point? Indeed we have to play ball for things that we "need", clothes, shelter, food. This video is a "want". I know that this concept is difficult to grasp in America, but let's just leave it at that so it stays nice and simple. You say that making money isn't inherently evil, yet making money is based solely off of competition, and the need for the existence of it which reduces the benevolent perceptions of capitalism from the get go. The very existence of money is evidence of economic imbalance in society and the distribution of that money. We give our lives to make money for others. More money than they could ever do anything with, and more than we'll ever see from working. We have been lead to believe that the power to buy some menial, unimportant, material shit is freedom. It's democracy! It's fighting the man! That's all bullshit, and if you're listening to Rage Against The Machine in the first place, then hopefully there's something inside of you that knows, and agrees with, what I am talking about.
