Such sad news... The first reports sounded like she would beat this and return to the stage.  But 80 years speaks for itself. She was able to sing her Blues in May at The Blues Musicic Awards in Memphis. Hers was a life well-lived. And well-loved!
She has had such an effect in Blues music and has been an inspiration to so many female Blues musicians. Her spirit and her music will live forever.

we where lucky to have met koko she was a great woman with so much wisdom she will be in our hearts forever as we try to carry on the blues in her honor forever & always thanks for allowing us into your heart & family c4 bluesband & family

It's times like these that I always try to look at the possative...a remembrance to make me happy or smile. I think of years back to the very first time I met Koko I told her that some day I wanted to sing a song with her...I laugh every time I think of the look she gave me...a look as if to say "Who is this skinny-ass white boy?"
Gonna miss you Koko!!!
