Current mood: relieved Category: Writing and Poetry
Well, Albacon was pretty cool. I met some writers that I admire and met some new authors, whose books I am looking forward to reading. It was a hectic 4 days with panels (I was on two of them) and a workshop by Toni Andrews. Thurday evening and Friday morning and aftersoon was devoted mostly to the romance writers. I really don't want to label them because it wasn't just about romance it was more urban fantasy and Fantasy. There was an ice cream social, that was nice and a vampire ball. I stayed about five minutes. I was so tired, I couldn't keep my eyes open. Saturday we had more panels . I really enjoyed the panels. There is so much interesting information to gleem. Always learning something. There was a banquet dinner. now here I am a little confused, I thought it would be about someone or something. No. Its a bunch of cranky people who are hungry and tired and, well you know athe drill. I couldn't eat my dinner, I took the beef, I couldn't cut the meat. neither could people at my table. maybe if we had a steak knife but no. One thing that always surprises me is that no matter how bad the food is, if you paid for, you ate it, complaining all the way. The Aritst Beck was at my table and he was asked how his chicken was and he said he could eat it and Jackie Kessler, one of our authors, had a vegan dish. When they came out with the eggplant parm I asked if I could trade my very bad beef for that and I could so I did. It was better. My DH, who eat some of his food, tasted the eggplant and he wished he had eaten that I am trying to remember what we did after the dinner and I don't think much. I know we had readings in the room next to mine. I thought they were very good. There was an erotic art lesson at the same time and I think something else but I can't remember. Sunday there were panels from 10 AM until 2 PM. At the 3 PM the con was over.
It was my first con and I know not my last. I look forward to the next, probably Nationals. I think for next year we are looking at a hotel in Troy, a Hilton. We still need to have out post con talk. Otherwise things are pretty much the same. Working hard and doing what I do.
