Right. I"m wearing my promoter's hat. I need bums in seats for the three-show run this weekend and that means YOU. So come on out (if you're within a 25 km radius) and I'll guarantee you'll enjoy an hour of theatre. Here's the press release, please copy and pass it on:

Vancouver Audiences LOVE “Oh Winnipeg!”

First time playwright/actor John Pippus scored a coveted “Pick of the Fringe” award at the Vancouver Fringe Fest’s Closing Awards Ceremony this past weekend for his one-man musical memoir, “Oh Winnipeg!”

This audience-selected award went to the four most popular productions, determined by ballot, from among the sixty-eight plays presented at this year’s run.

As a result, “Oh Winnipeg!” will be performed this coming Friday Sept. 25th (6PM), Saturday Sept. 26th (7:45PM) and a Sunday matinee Sept. 27th (12:55PM) at The Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island. This is a fundraiser for the Vancouver Fringe Festival. All tickets $16. Last year’s shows sold out.

“Oh Winnipeg!” is the journey of a singer/songwriter’s life in – and out – of music. Born into a non-musical family (or is he?), Pippus traverses strip joints, nude beaches, and gets checked in to a psych ward while stumbling after the big dream.

“Warm-hearted humanity that instantly connects with the audience.”

4 STARS. The Times Colonist

“Charming and touching tale… Don’t miss this great little play.”

4 ½ STARS. Monday Magazine

“Openhearted and engaging performer.” Georgia Straight

“LOVED it!” Sheryl MacKay, Host of North by Northwest, CBC Radio

Or at the box office at The Waterfront Theatre, 1412 Cartwright St. on Granville Island. More info at: 604-899-4483
