>To my delight the Big Island of Hawaii is not just jungle but more wild west then Texas. There were cowboys (paniolos) in the Big Island of Hawaii before there were cowboys in mainland U.S. I had an oportunity next to learn horse whispering from an amazing teacher Betty who in turn wanted to learn to crack her bullwhip. Natural horsemanship is using the language and comunication the horses allready use and exhibit. Betty has a large horse society set up were the horses (all female except 1 happy Arabian knight in a shinning bridle).
I learned more then I had bargened for when I was helping Betty do the natural horsemanship equivelent of "breaking a horse". This intailed me ever so gently jump up and drapping myself over the 1,200 pound wild horses back (that had never been riddin’ by a human), then slide off. Somewhat slowly I worked up to sitting on it. But when Luna (forshadowing alert) started bucking and Betty told me to hold on (i.e. hold onto the neck so I could somewhat safely jump off and not get seriously bucked) only I must of heard, "Hold on, Cowboy up, and go for 8 ( for you city slickers that s 8 seconds / qualifying rodeo time, )"
Well I was ridding hi in my saddle (only in Natural horsemanship there is no saddle)...
I reckon I must of whispered too loud or she thought I was that horny Arabian because she tried to kick me in the bollos just like some of them mares do after they do teasing winny to trick the stalion sometimes. Well I figured learning how to talk like a horse could be good comic foder for my act and today certainly learned a lot. I can definetly use this.
And happy to say, I can still use this.
