Hello Bands!
I'd like to first offer my thanks to you for your interest in playing our establishment. We are excited to work with all of you, and look forward to many exciting shows in the future. I've received lots of emails and calls from interested bands seeking information on available dates, specifications of the venue, and any other pertinent information that goes along with playing our venue, and I thought this would be a happy medium with which to get that information across.
I'll begin with these simple truths: We want your shows to be successful in every way possible. Everyone associated with Blind Bob's is committed to local music in Dayton and strives to create an available space where it can flourish. We want to have every band who walks in the door find a venue full of professional attitudes and helpful, open-minded, and knowledgeable minds. We want to do anything and everything we can to help you in whatever way possible.
But please don't expect us alone to make your shows successful. If that occurs, a new exciting venue turns into the same old clubs we've had in the past, and none of us want that. Basically, We are striving for a symbiotic relationship with our bands. It is the old "you-scratch-our-backs, we-scratch-yours" kind of thing. In return for the commitment we are offering you, we expect to see the same commitment back.
So let's begin with the pertinent information:
1. For the immediate future, Blind Bob's will offer live music Thursday - Sunday night's only. Our crazy, rocking shows will generally run from about 10pm to 1:30am. The more laid back shows will probably start a little earlier, but we can all work that out!
2. Try to keep all bills at LESS than 3 bands per night. More than 3 bands usually creates more problems for everyone, not to mention a smaller cut from the door at the end of the night.
3. Unless previous arrangements have been made, bands will be paid the cover at the door minus expenses for the sound man. Covers usually are expected not to exceed $5.
3. As a general rule, but by no means law, Friday's and Saturday's will be reserved for the louder, crazier bills. On Thursday and Sunday, we'll stick to more laid back, ambient sounds. Again, this is not law, but we'll try to adhere to this as much as possible.
4. Blind Bob's will provide all necessary PA equipment, within reason. Expect the same as you would find in most other small bars/venues. If you have special needs when it comes to the PA, let me know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I can guarantee that if you tell the sound man about the problem five minutes before you go on, you should expect a snarky, rude response in return, while at the same time being completely and totally out of luck.
5. All shows are 21+.
6. If your bill cannot bring at least 50 people into the bar who aren't in your band, you're going to have a really hard time competing with our jukebox when it comes to booking future dates. Especially in the eyes of our wonderful, talented, under-tipped bartenders and servers who have just made no money at your show.
7. For out of town bands: Dayton can be a rough city in regards to draw. If you've never played here before and you want to get your feet wet, contact local bands first and book through them. If you have played here before, have a relatively decent draw, and need a date I have open, by all means contact me and we'll work something out together.
Out of Town bands, please feel free to send demos/press packs in for consideration. Please send to:

For any other questions, please feel free to contact me and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I humanly can. I love my job and want to help all of you as quickly as possible, but I like my days off as much as everyone else. So please, please, be patient with me and we'll get you all set up.
I look forward to working with all of you! Keep rocking.
