And I mean that in more way than one!! The day before we left for the weekend I wasn't feeling well, so I went to the doctor and found out I had tonsillitis. This is not a good thing to find out when you have to get up at 2:30 the next morning, drive 10 hours and then sing all night. Not good at all... Well, the nurse practitioner gave me some good antibiotics and I slept the whole way to Grand Rapids, and thankfully my throat wasn't bad off enough to keep me from singing!! And even though I was pretty rundown all weekend, we still managed to have a great time and have some fun shows.
We started off on Friday night in Grand Rapids, MI, at the Intersection. This is a killer room if you haven't seen it before. I can't wait to go in there one day and pack it out!! We also shared the stage with some local guys, Small Town Son, and a new group called Fast Ryde. Check 'em out and if you like them, tell them I sent you : )
So from there we traveled to Chicago, IL, where we played for the first time at Joe's Bar with Chuck Wicks. I've heard about this place for a long time now and I have to say, it definitely lived up to it's reputation!! Great room, great sound, great staff, great everything. I really appreciated how hospitable they were to us there, and I know the guys did too. And I don't know if you're a fan of Chuck's or not, but you should be. Chuck's a really nice guy and he's got some great new music he's putting out there soon. I've known him for a while now, but this was our first time doing a show together. Hopefully the first of many!! Oh and back to that hospitality thing, here's a shot of me and the band enjoying a shot of Buffalo Trace whiskey the club got for us....ahhhhh...good stuff...
I think that's what really cured me of my tonsillitis!!!! Lol.
Anyhow, thanks to everybody who came out to see us and to all the new fans we met this weekend!! And before I forget, I made it a point to write down some of the stupid stuff that came out of our mouths this weekend. Hope you enjoy ; )
Dom (to me) - "Your hands are really hairy. Like an ape."
Me (to Jay) - "Did you kick over that carton of cookies???"
Jay - "Yeah, sorry. I had a rockstar moment."
Me (to David) - "Did you just throw that beer bottle?? You hit me in my occipital!!!!"
Dom - "I got hit in the obdubital trainal...."
One of the guys - "Was that a jahovas witness?"
Me - "No, that was the front desk clerk, I mean front clerk desk...dammit I had it right the first time!!"
