Well, lets start with Hotels;
As touring musicians we obsess about making ourselves comfortable on the road. This is extremely hard to do when travelling from place to place, but one way to mitigate the problem is to try and stay in hotels that make us comfortable.
For that reason, my best of list of hotels may not be the classiest, most modern or the best appointed,But there is something about them that makes me comfortable
In Vancouver, if i can’t for some reason stay with friends, then the only choice is The Sylvia http://www.sylviahotel.com/
The grand old lady of the west end, ivy covered and slightly frumpy, a bit like one’s maiden aunt there’s no better location in the city. And just like staying at your aunt’s place, there’s overstuffed chairs, resident cats and a cosy little place to have a drink while you watch the sunset.
Its got a great restaurant for breakfast. I confess i have never eaten dinner there, since there is so much good food in the neighbourhood.
Walk to Stanley park
Walk the shore of english bay.
Eat at the won more.
Its still  a very reasonably priced hotel for where it is, but BOOK EARLY. i don’t think i have ever gotten a room here without booking at least two weeks in advance.
