CMCH Parent Project - iKeepSafe has just completed a major research project in collaboration with the Center on Media and Child Health at Children's Hospital/Harvard Medical School and funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, in which we found that many parents are aware of the perils as well as the benefits of the Internet and are successfully preventing cyber-threats to their children using non-technical interventions such as open discussion of risks, family rules, and monitoring. We also learned that these parents are more effective at protecting their children in cyberspace when they have used the Parent Resource tools on the iKeepSafe Web site. This data leads us to conclude that computer literate and Internet savvy parents implement some parenting skills and technical tools to protect their children online. Parents unfamiliar with the use of technology and the Internet and the risks posed to their children should be surveyed to determine their ability to provide a safe and healthy online experience for their children.

International Needs Assessment - iKeepSafe has brought together an international team of leading researchers to create and administer a global Needs Assessment Survey in multiple languages to stakeholders (i.e., industry leaders, policymakers, representatives from medicine, public health, mental health, education, law enforcement, and parents and youth). The Center on Media and Child Health is currently analyzing the data and the findings will be reported at the Point Smart/ Click Safe Summit as a major component for developing best practices.
