Current mood:  creative
the end of 2007 is upon us and 2008 is almost here and the time has come for me to take a back seat for the moment and reflect on the years that has passed and the year ahead. for me it has been a very interesting time doing what i do and getting a chance to see what i've seen over the years. i've seen trends come and go, seen the world a hundred times over, got a chance to see things that people dream of seeing, meeting some crazy individuals along the way as well. i've also over the years had some good times and bad times in which they've made me a strong (even stronger) person depending on the circumstance. i've made some good close friends and i value their friendship also. some music friends, some personal friendships that have nothing to do with the music biz and all that, taken trips with them, had wine, food, good conversation and spoke about what's going on in todays world that we live in. it seems as though the more i travel and do all of these things, the more i realize the big picture and not too many of us seems to realize certain things that are priceless and also things we take for granted, like... being able to see, (the world), being able to FEEL (whether it's a spirit or actually touching a physical thing), being able to HEAR, (a melody or just the sound of a voice) being able speak (verbally or through my music), all these things we take for granted sometimes. if you noticed, the last two things (IN CAPS) of what i'm describing to you are the things that i'm gonna talk about right now. MUSIC!!! you FEEL music, you HEAR music, and i've also seen the world through music, but that's not what i'm getting at... after countless airports, airplanes, taxis, hotels, and clubs... and shit i'm tired of me & jetlag being best friends... i'm throwing away my passport (not really but you get the picture) for 2 months and locking myself in my studio and making some fucking MUSIC!!!! i know some people are saying good and it's about time that i get back in the studio and what has taken me so long, well to make a long story short... all i have to say is... when i'm on the road, it takes me out of the studio, and no... i don't wanna make no beats on my laptop while i'm on the plane or hotel room. i'm the type of artist where i have to vibe in a studio environment (incense burning, lights down low and all you see are the LED lights on my equipment) in order for me to be inspired. you can call me old skool or whatever but that's how i roll, nah mean? when you've traveled as much as i have over the years, it's addictive to be able to go to let's say... Brazil or Australia or say... Paris, all in a months time period and that's no joke!!! to see all these places and TOUCH so many people in doing what i've been doing is the SHIT!!! but it comes a time when i gotta realize what got me here in the first place and that's MY MUSIC. from the early days of the Detroit Techno Movement to today, plenty has changed in the world of music, technology has taken over and now it's a new ball game. it's the perfect time as well, it's cold as fuck here in detroit, my creativity levels are about to explode, shit i'm already working on one project as we speak, i'm working with some local guys that i'm helping produce. so keep you ears close to the speakers cause i'm gonna come with some heat in the middle of winter. the only gigs that i will concentrate on for a while are my RADIO SKOOL parties, so for those of you in DETROIT, you'll get a nice treat in having me @ home for while. and those of you worldwide all i have to say is WMC march!

peace

It's not often that us, on this side, as fans, get to hear what really drives, motivates, and inspires the musicians. You and the like are the masterminds behind what we live for. There are fans, and then there are die-hard fans that live, eat, sleep and breathe the music. It's what gets us moving, brings us back to reality, puts a smile on our faces and keeps us strong when we are weak. For you to put this kind of discourse out there for us to read is just amazing...it's a little peice of "what's inside Stacey's head" that we don't normally get to know. It's you putting it out there that you are more than a guy that is trying to make music, trying to please fans, trying to get from point A, to point B, then to points C, D and E all in one week. It's substance, it's distinguished, it's classy and it's sharing more than just your music...it's sharing the PERSON behind the music. That's what makes you unique, and that's what makes us here in Detroit so incredibly lucky to have you grounded here for the next few months!! I can't wait to see what you bring us in 2008; definitely lookin forward to it! Stacey's bringin back that funk, that soul, that Detroit sound...watch out!!

The Nasty Mariol

LOL

I've just discovered this blog.

Hello Mister Stacey Pullen.

You are a criminal with your funny hat! Shame on you!

You've just won an opinion of peace.

Congratulations! :-)

Nasty Mariol believes :

1) For some religious or cultural traditions, a hat is rude at a table.
2) But I understand your feelings about this story. You live in a world of freedom. If a man is eating with a fedora, the same place where I am, I don't know what's the problem. The meal won't change... The digestion too... A hat seems to disturb the people closed in their traditions.
3) Example : Liège, Belgium. I like to wear a CAP!! My black cap. Ok, it's less elegant, even if there's nothing written on it. When it's raining, it can be cool to have something on his head... I was in town, for a drink, in the most pubs for 16/35 years old, once inside, a guy ask me, friendly, to take off my pen! After some thoughts about that, I don't always see why. If somebody likes hats or wants to wear one the same day he's in a restaurant, a pub, a disco, it's not to disturb the others. It's because he loves his hat. I don't know what's this strange discrimination nowadays. A formated appearence. By television? By all those tabloids of s...? By this parallel world, a world of VIPs. Very Insignificant Persons.
4) Conclusion : If a hat hurts a person in his eyes when you're at a table or you're the sole to wear one, take off it. The respect is a compromise between two different opinions. Now, if it becomes a severe rule, even in a pub for young people, it's sad. Less freedoms for a public behaviour like wearing a hat, it's superficial, stupid, a proof this world isn't very tolerant or must be only like one and no other one, fashion. Yes, it is. Some shit! But who is the one who makes his shit in our shoes? lol The human stupidity. The greedy human.
A hat is not a problem!
No hat for everybody is a problem.

It's what I call a wise answer. :-)

Merry Christmas.

Happy new year 2008.

And, music!

TNM/Not so nasty.

I'm feelin ya bro... I'm in the very beggining of my journey. And for some reason the one thing that is on my mind is family. We run fast today, whether it be technology, speaking, or music. And we dont take the time to reflect on who and what has aided us in our pursuits. For me it has been my wife, without her I would have never had started a label and would never had made "life drifts". So... I thank you for taking the time to give these words of wisdom and opening up my clouded mind. Good on ya mate!

Good to have you home. Sometimes it is in the cutting cold that the messages come clear. Looking forward to seeing you around, keeping in touch with the local scene. I'm not sure what the magic is of Detroit that produces so much creative talent, but when I look far and wide so many people originate from here.
