Who Gives Kudos:

Wednesday, November 05, 2008
It wasn't all cocktails and hammocks on my recent trip to America .
During my stay in Philadelphia with Ryan and Aislinn from Sunsplit, we did some recording in Ryan's studio .
I had a great time in Philly, despite getting punched three times in one night and being unceremoniously dunked in the Delaware .(Thankfully ,not on the same night ).

"Katy Cruel" is a a very old song.
It might be Scottish , or Irish in origin.
It might be from nowhere in particular
It's probably crossed the Atlantic a couple of times.
It might even have been round the world .
It's a travelling song about a travelling girl .
I enjoyed making it and I hope everyone else did too .

The musicians involved are .

will carruthers _vocals , bass , guitar
aislinn van kriedt - autoharp, percussion
ryan van kriedt - cello , percussion ,banjo
scott vittorelli - harmonica
adam weaver - drums
damien taylor - more drums

recorded and mixed by ryan van kriedt at catspaw studio.

special thanks go to everyone at the Lost bar in Kensington ,rocket cat cafe , Eric Harms, and Raechel .

Why thankyew .
I got punched by women .
They got some good right hands in Philly .
I WAS WELCOMED LIKE A NATIVE, albeit a native of another planet .
America was nice to me .

awesome song man, you really need to visit the appalacian mountains coz you really can feel the scottish folk songs in the tree's... man it's fantastic, really dig the song and a big up to the harmonica man, he's got the sounds .....i suppose being hit in the face is better than being hit in the ear.... a girl made my ear bleed once...peace

Would you like to try a nice Hawaiian punch?... it's sweeter than that Philly punch. Well, m'glad to hear you're still able to take a punch, at least! (Remember poor Houdini after his show!)

I think I heard that song debut on drugmusic. com or something. Some strange guy was hosting the show at the time too. That's a great tune.
