Everyone on the John Foxx mailing list at Townsend Records:
http://www.townsend-records.co.uk/artist.php?artist=John+Foxx&pType=6
can now download the new mix of 'A Million Cars' from the Impossible album for free.
This new mix features on the latest pressing of the John Foxx & Louis Gordon’s album, Impossible. The previous version of the album was restricted to 1000 copies and has now completely sold out, so from now on all copies of Impossible feature the new mix. The album also includes two exclusive tracks - ‘Adult Concerns’ and ‘Walk This Way’ - plus ten versions of previously released material. Some of these re-workings are completely new arrangements, others are closer to the live versions.
There’s a raw, analogue, fractured, aggressive style to the material - the closest in sound is 2003’s Crash & Burn but it’s heavier than that album, featuring ‘rusty metallic synths’ and ’shredded’ vocals, as one listener noted. William Burroughs, Guillermo Del Toro's surreal imagary and the strobe-lit, London techno-punk of early Ultravox! are also reference points.
Like an extended John Peel session, the tracks were recorded fast, in the heat of the moment . . . The full tracklisting is as follows -
