OX FANZINE #84 (JUNE 2009/July 2009)

Den Preis für den besten Bandnamen gewinnt auf jeden Fall schon mal THE VENUS FLY TRAP ONE GIRL BAND ... 'One foot in the grave' versammelt ansonsten 17 europäische One-Man-Bands , die alle rare und unveröffentlichte Tracks beisteuern und zeigt damit wohl auch fast die gesamte Bandbreite dieses mittlerweile nicht mehr ganz so neuen Genres : vom primitiven Bumm-Tschak-Trashblues zu mehr klassisch 50s und Rockabilly-like, punkig oder eher unkonventionell a la FEELING OF LOVE oder KING AUTOMATIC. Das letzte Wort hat dann der Beat.Man mit seinem fast schon als Klassiker zu bezeichnenden 'Beat-Man-Way' als Liveversion. Da meine Eindrücke so vielfältig wie dieser sampler sind und von schon tausend Mal gehört bid Begeisterung reichen, bin ich auch mal mehr mal weniger begeistert vom Dargebotenen. Alles in allem ist 'One Foot in the Grave' aber sicherlich eine absolut runde Sache, die zu guter letzt noch von der gelungenen Versandkartonaufmachung unterstrichen wird. (7/10)

'One foot in the grave' collects 17 european One-Man-Bands , all contributing rare or unreleased tracks and this shows the whole bandwidth of this in the meantime not-so-new-anymore genre : from primitive Boom-Chack-Trashblues to classic 50s and rockabilly-like, punky or unconventionally a la FEELING OF LOVE or KING AUTOMATIC. The last word belongs to the BEAT-MAN and his near-classic 'Beat-Man-Way' as liveversion. My impressions are as multifaceted as this compilation and vary from heard-a-thousand-times-before to enthusiastic , so I'm more or less enthusiastic about the featured songs. All in all 'One Foot in the Grave' is sure a fine thing, not at least because of the nice cardboard box. (7/10)

pour sa deuxième sortie, le label Nantais Kizmiaz presente un panel de one-man-bands de toute l Europe, et presque exclusivement de l'inédit. Ils sont tous la, Reverend Beatman, King Automatic, Feeling Of love, (une contribution éléctro-wave qui dechire un peu la toile presque trop lisse du trsh/lo fi de la compil). , decheman (toujours aussi boogaloo le bougre ...) La liste est longue, 17 groupes " à moi tout seul" dont on extraira le "Woman, I wanna be your man" de Garagekid qui fait une Downliners Sect "à lui tout seul", les " Nibards" de Sheriff Perkins, Wasted Pido et le son toujours auusi parfait des studios italiens Outside Inside et la delicieuse Miss Ipi qui a du apprendre le blues à l'église de Knoxville avec ses frangins en 1926 ... Beau Boulot! Le cd est tiré à 666 exemplaires, commandez le ou brulez ... la ou vous savez !
