Phoebe Vernier " La Fibi " is one of San Francisco's premier Flamenco Dancers.
She has been studying, performing, and teaching flamenco
for 26 years. Over the course of more than two decades of
immersion in the art form, she has developed a reputation as
a powerful, dynamic dancer, as well as a supportive and
strong backup percussionist (palmista) for dancers and
musicians. She is known for her talent, generous team spirit,
and flexibility as an artist.

She was born in Hollywood to Actor/Dancer parents and was
raised in New York City, Hollywood, San Francisco, and
Virginia. La Fibi grew up on the road with her mother, a
professional Middle Eastern dancer, and was surrounded by
the world of show business and live Arabic music from the
earliest age, performing on stage at the age of four.

She has studied in Spain and in the U.S. with Rosa Montoya,
Maria Magdelena, Jose Antonio, La Tati, Farruquita, Maria Benitez,
Luis Ortega, Rafael Campallo, Jose Galvan, Belen Maya, Chiqui de Jerez,
Rocio Molina, Eva "La Yerbabuena" and Juana Amaya. La Fibi has performed
extensively in the Bay Area as a featured Soloist. She has
danced in the companies of Rosa Montoya's Bailes
Flamencos, La Tania Music and Dance, Theatre
Flamenco of
San Francisco, and has toured nationally with The Boston
Flamenco Ballet, The Company of Rinaldo Rincon, the
renowned
Maria Benitez Spanish Dance Company, and the
Madrid based "
Compania Noche Flamenca" at the
Hollywood Bowl with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.

La Fibi danced for six years at the popular Latin Supper Club,
SOL Y LUNA, in downtown San Francisco, where she was a
core member of Grupo Sol y Luna, a traditional flamenco
cuadro, and as a singer, percussionist, and dancer with The Sol
y Luna Band, a Rumba/Flamenco/Salsa fusion band. The Sol y
Luna Band released a CD, which is available at Tower
Records. The group performed at the Great American Music
Hall, at dozens of fairs, festivals and events with audiences in
the thousands, and with the nuevo flamenco guitarist,
Ottmar
Liebert. DANCE MAGAZINE featured La Fibi on it's June 2001
cover.

La Fibi's recent recording/performance credits with Bands have been with
Alegre Picante, David T. Carter and the Trailer Park Rangers
, and Kaweh.
She currently teaches extensively in the North Bay, and is an
invited guest instructor for national flamenco workshops and
festivals. She continues to perform regularly  in San Francisco
with
Toque Flamenco, and in Oakland with Flamenco Vivo.

She is the Artistic Director of FLAMENCO! LIVE! DANCE ENSEMBLE, and
