I watched something necessary the other night, necessary for the legitimacy of America and it's interests around the world. Necessary for it's religion of capitalism and it's imperial ambition, which were not curbed in anyway with the election of an African American. Instead they gained perhaps the greatest spokesperson for their cause that they could have ever received. People that never felt inclusive now feel like part of America, like they have a personal stake in its success and for people that truly love this country, isn't that what you wanted? To have more people who live here proud of being an American? For many people Bush was never their president, to them he stole the first election and railroaded the second one with mired swift boat attacks on John Kerry's character while dodging facts about the mischaracterization of Iraq as somehow being involved in 9/11 and how the intelligence that led us to war was so badly distorted. Some surrogates even went as far as to suggest that Mr.Kerry might have inflicted the wounds on himself in Vietnam to receive a Purple Heart…

The same smear tactics were used all throughout this election, the same fear mongering and questions brought about Obama's faith, place of birth and his "relationship with terrorists." This cost the McCain campaign and it's supporters, opportunity and legitimacy about their complaints of the future 44th President. They went beyond the simple implications of the Clinton campaign deep into the territory of arousing the fear and hatred ingrained in the minds of white citizens all over America. And yet they were denied yesterday for good reason. The mob would not have tolerated it. His victory was a restoration of the crumbling belief in our democracy, because the loss of faith; that, my brother's and sisters is how empire's fall, not from simple military failure but when their people no longer believe in it. During the last few years of Bush, this is what I saw. I cannot answer if there would have been rioting would he have not won, but his ascension to the role of Commander in Chief has made a strong case for it being the people's choice in what and who control's America. When in truth the strength and power of Military Industry and Corporate Conglomerates saw more of a champion than any urban working class citizen could have, in Obama.

Through careful planning, timed responses, tactful alienation and one of the best organized campaigns, at long last the people of America have a man that they WANT to believe in, a man they can point to as an example of the death of racism, the birth of hope and the inclusion of member's of disaffected society in the United States. But is this to be?

Michelle Obama was right when she talked about feeling proud to be an American for the first time. And white conservatives took it out of context. They assumed that the Black and Latino community who have had the right to vote for the past 40 of the 221 years of this countries existence should kneel and kiss the ground of a land that is only now acknowledging their service and contribution. Truthfully I am more inspired by her words than most of his. And, I am reinforced in my understanding that a man (especially one that aspires to achieve anything significant) without the right woman to support him and offer him guidance will never amount to anything. Her words were prophetic for they truly did speak to the manner in which urban Black and Latino people have embraced the USA.

As I said before this was necessary for America to do… To not follow in the footsteps of the Roman Empire in its alienation of the people's that it conquered. Their great mistake was NOT to include their allies and offer them the benefits of citizenships and partaking in the glory of what the empire gained as a reward for assimilation. Africans were on this side of the world before Columbus, but in US history they were brought as slaves, kept subservient through a Europeanized Christendom, and lied to about their glorious past, and their contributions to the history of humanity. After all it was Africans who comprised the power ranks of the early church, Africans who nursed the philosophy of the ancient Greeks and African Muslims who ruled Western Europe for over 700 years, that's more than 3 times as long as the United States has existed as a country.

They are a people who have fought hard for every small victory and seemingly insignificant right taken for granted nowadays. They fought and died in every major US war going to back to the very founding of this nation when Crispus Attucks was the first person to ever die for American Freedom from British Imperial rule. Yet every time they proved their bravery and willingness to lay down their lives for the nation of their captivity, subsequent birth and allegiance to, they were denied the honor of a well-deserved recognition. They were denied loans, given substandard housing, redlined into the ghetto, had their communities filled with drugs and their addictions criminalized whereas the upper class of white society had theirs treated as an illness. Africans have had their commitment to family and values overlooked by a media highlighting of the worst sections of society. The Black family did not fall apart until the crack era, for even during the times of slavery, it came together with more strength than ever! Because there were sisters who were looking after children who weren't theirs and brothers who played the father when their father's were sold off and gone.

Black people for all intents and purposes have a right to have certain cynicisms and grievances with America. Perhaps not as much as Native Americans but they wouldn't be the only ethnic group in the world to have a difficult relationship with the nation they live in. After all the world's nations are actually comprised of many nations most of which are included by right of conquest and not willing consent.

And yet November 4th I saw Black people in Harlem waving American flags proudly and loudly. I saw them painted red white and blue, chanting and cheering "USA, USA". I saw cops shaking hands with brothers from the hood who hate cops. I saw white college students who have gentrified Harlem and the last of Harlem's bulk of Black residents welcoming them with open arms dancing in the streets because they were wearing Obama buttons or carrying Obama posters. He truly is a unifying force. He has changed the FACE of America, but now the question remains can he actually change America? Can he stop the war? Or can he just change it.

America has a new leader. To me personally I have always seen race a great illusion to justify slavery and build the capital for capitalism. His race is not as important as his design for the economy. But those who would think that we live in a post racial America are blind, and those who think that his minor experience will prevent him from acting with the full force of the greatest military power in the world will be surprised. His great strength is in his ability to listen and remember, to communicate and to inspire. To convince and to come up with the best explanation possible instead of perhaps some of the worst excuses for leadership, rationale for war and political nepotism that we have seen in America's history during Bush II.

But his victory, he was right to say was not his victory alone, it was also the resounding failure of the Right Wing Republicans. So much so that it seems as if people from the very onset on the right might have aided McCain's downfall to have the president they thought would be better for business in the neo liberal world of globalization.

McCain lost this election for many reasons though.

-McBush: His inability to distance and separate himself from George Bush and the fiscal crisis that came as result of economic policies of the 43rd president's administration. His pathetic attempt to make the difference known at the end of the 3rd presidential debate was too little, way too late.

-The "Right" Enemies: A person is often judged by their enemies, McCain lost to Obama because of his inability to curb what was first seen as the fringe of his party and eventually came to be seen as a significant % of the base. In some videos you can even see his own surprised and disturbed reaction to what his supporters believed. The rallies became more and more about hatred and not any issues of real consequences. I know Christians and Right Wingers that are logical independent voters and when they saw the Republican base questioning him being a Muslim (as if that was a crime), an antichrist, a socialist, and screaming out "terrorist", even the many of which had planned to back McCain/Palin were disgusted.

They looked at their own party as if to say I can't really believe that you're doing this to us now. If I were Obama I would have not feared these people, I would have engineered these people, and right now I would thank God for them. They cost McCain the election. Any rational debate that true fiscal and family values conservatives would have had were mixed in the same bag as these people.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjxzmaXAg9E

I would like to personally thank these idiots should they ever muster the courage to actually leave their Petri dish rural environment.

-The Palin Factor: Like I said, I know a few conservatives, most of them aren't religious zealots (although I do have some family like that) and they told me that in good conscious they couldn't vote for their ticket. The right wing talking points said that Obama and Palin had the same amount of experience. To which a Military officer who is a friend of mine snidely but honestly from the bottom of his war hardened heart responded, "experience being the same, she's incapable of answering a straight question, she's incompetent, she can't stand up to Putin or anyone else. I voted Obama." Truly her champions were people who cheered during the procession of The Emperor's new clothes. She was no Hillary.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWZHTJsR4Bc    ( THIS IS THE MOST FRIGHTENING ONE)

Smart move old friend...

Right Wing Defectors: Colin Powell put the nail in McCain's coffin for all Republicans who were creatures of logic over blind faith. He spoke for those who wanted understanding about the real issue, the economy. McCain choose to focus on Ayers and other old professors instead. He lacked vision, thinking his party could influence the moderates and the independents with this. Instead Scott McClellan, Christopher Buckley, etc… became a testament to Obama being able to win over not just working class whites, but conservative whites, which he proved to be able to do in the home stretch.

http://tips.webdesign10.com/politics/more-conservatives-back-obama-346.html

Duh, Economy: These are all compelling arguments, but none of them more of a resounding factor than the economy. Which McCain avoided!!! Had McCain chosen for example Mitt Romney as VP this race would have been much closer in some key states. Here was a well-spoken, respected and successful businessman. He was the most well known Republican after McCain. He made millions from his business, he understood the crisis from a definitively fiscal Republican base, and would have won independents who found no answers in the 2008 GOP ticket. Instead the economy became the blow that McCain/Palin never recovered from.

But what does this all mean?

Is the Revolution over? Hardly. Are the world's problems solved, not at all. Is Mumia going to get out of jail? I hope Mr.Obama looks into that but I bet it's not high on his list. The threat of terrorism isn't over nor is the threat of preemptive strikes. Should people of color now sign up for the Military now that the president looks like someone in their family? Stop it.

In order for Mr. Obama to have become America's president, he had to back Israel 100%, not mention of the suffering of Palestinians, so the Middle East will not change drastically. Rahm Emanuel whose father was a soldier in the Zionist paramilitary organization called "Irgun" was recently selected as his Chief of Staff. I reserve my judgment and approach with an open mind so as to not give into hypocrisy because a man is not always his father. I just hope Obama can inject different opinions as well as his powerful logic into that conversation. I hope he will normalize relations with Cuba, for the sake of everyone who has family they cannot see, but in order to win Florida he had to change his tone about it. He will not investigate 9/11 although I think that now that he has the power do to so he should not be afraid to use it. I hope he will look into that and into the origin of the faulty intelligence that led us into Iraq. He will be everyone's president, but the majority of white America doesn't see Malcolm X the way I do, nor did they see the Black panthers as freedom fighters, they saw them as terrorists, are we to give up our history and whitewash our heroes and praise those who kept us subservient because of this victory?

Racism hasn't disappeared and you can always tell a racist/ignorant person by their notion that because Obama is president that we live in a post racial America. It is a sign of progress, it is a great triumph for all people, (after all we forget Barack is half white too.) It is very inspirational, but inspiration alone doesn't complete a crusade.

I am sometimes accused of being too serious, which fools mistake for negativity. No I just understand that now the idea of Reparations for Blacks in America will be completely off the table. The powerful will remain powerful, the rich will stay rich and we gain advancement only in serving other's causes that we then accept as our own. He cannot change the past but he can change the future, and this more than anything is what I, and others are hoping he will be able to do expeditiously.

After all he only has 18 months from the time he is elected, until the next congressional election really gets into the swing of things, and the members of Congress turn to the their own races. He will need to act quickly.

The price of having hope is sometimes disappointment, but the price of having no hope is always failure… That said I have a few main concerns for America's new Caesar: Repairing, regulating and reforming the economy, Healthcare for all the people of the richest country in the world. Bringing logic and reason to the war on terror and "war on drugs". And lastly the reason that many Latinos and Indigenous people voted for him and delivered in key battleground states. Stopping the criminalization of hardworking immigrants upon whose backs our great nation is built.

I am just a man, one of 300 million, and though my support base is massive, one of the largest in the underground. I know Mr.Obama will never read this. But I have hope for the future you are trying to fight for us to have Mr. Obama and any change from the last 8 years of this record gas price, record home foreclosure, record incompetence (Katrina & Bin Laden's 8 yr holiday) government is a good start to me. My cup of hope is full, but I sip it slowly, because hope is a powerful drug.

Remember, all politics is local, our job hasn't ended with the election it has just begun.

Totally agree with you. The one who run fascist government in Indonesia and working for CIA and others are brown as i am. But they're merely just a puppet for America money hungry corporations, exploiting our resources and put us in the trap of endless debt and all that neoliberalism agenda.

Lets see if Obama really makes history. being the first afro-american prez doesnt represent changes, stopping wars and all worst things america did to the world is the real changes.

yo obama will do fine, if he keeps to his promises, we shouldnt use BUSH as a scapegoat though, coz hes done shitloads to fight aids and poverty in africa, according to bob geldof, see i didnt know that shit, that changes my view on bush, he fukt up in iraq, but he saved AFRICA.

so the media needs to report the positives and negatives of leaders.

IF you want the best kind of socialism bro, read up on TITOISM, the leader of my motherland.

A ww2 general, and liberator of yugoslavia from the fashists, my 2 grandfathers served under him. Stalin was too brutal, and yugoslavia enjoyed greater liberties than the soviet union, while it was socialist.
The chinese, venezuelans and all the socialist nations, all get schooled on tito, on how to get SOCIALISM RIGHT!!!
but bro listen, we gonna need capitalism mixed with socialism, or a new type of capitalism thats
more compassionate.
Like Comrade jesus christ thought, love thy neighbour, share with the poor,
heal the sick and less fortunate - thats on a personal level

on the economic level
STRONG PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR, and something similar to what the commonwealth nations enjoy. A good healthcare system, a good welfare system.
Salvation Army, enviromentalism, strong agroculture sector, balanced cheques, and yada yada

Look ive seen a message from jesus christ, and it said "be the change" and "spiritual fitness"
we can all change the world, if we have a positive and affirmative mind, and a good heart.

prayers, affirmations, wishes, meditation, new age, the secret, whatever shit really works.

you can feel the change already, not just in the u.s, but the whole world.

keep praying for peace, love, justice, truth, positivity.

LET THE POOR EAT CAVIAR- see that shit, its one of my affirmations,
or THE CHURCH IN CALIFORNIA-when the fire was happening, not getting burnt, thats coz ive put holy protection on all the churches.

THE DOVE OF PEACE and A RAinbow- when israel and hamas stopped fighting

YOU CAN DO THIS TOO, AS LONG AS YOU BELIEVE IN WISHES,AFFIRMATIONS,WORLD PEACE,
LOVE AND WHATEVER YOU FANCY

what they didnt tell you, is that you can use THE SECRET, to bring world peace, universal peace, improve the earth, justice, and whatever, so USE IT!!! for thy self, thy community, house,
world.

AND ALSO RELY ON GOD THE CREATOR, for a more powerful effect.

PEACE AND GOD BLESS

TALK IS CHEAP , APPLY YOUR THOUGHTS AND WISHES TO REALITY.

Bush didn't save Africa. The drugs they give the HIV positive people just make it worse and turn it into AIDS. Its Bioterriost at their best. Why do you think AIDs chooses the few and the gay and black? I don't think a sexually transmitted disease discriminates... but thats what they want us to believe.

I agree on your economic standpoint to a certain degree. I think its more complicated than the layout you gave but I agree on your basis. However, I'm a little disturbed on how reliant you are on a religious figure. Being close to a God is cool and all but I believe a religious faith should have no place in the progression of politics or the laws of a society.

Malcolm X was a great speaker and scholar, Sir Marcus Garvey was a hero, i busted out a cops window with a brick with the lyrics of NWAs "Fight the Power" wrapped around it.

Im scared, i think america has been fucked since the 1820s, and i think that while this ray of light is a powerful one, it is still just one ray. Thanks for speaking your voice, more people need to.

My biggest fear is that this has been somewhat "pre planned" as a last hope.. Because if another bush like demon was appointed president of the USA I think people would have felt so backed into the corner that they would have had no choice but to bite the hands that feeds, or so to speak. But now people have the attitude that oh its all good now. Hmmm? I am happy about the victory, but not because Obama won more that the people showed me that they still have power within them selves to act on the feelings and thoughts that course through their body and minds. Nevertheless I'm still worried about the outcome of all this but i guess time will expose all... whether truth or farce. Lets just pray that theres light at the end of this new tunnel. "My cup of hope is full, but I sip it slowly, because hope is a powerful drug." Nice line. I have high hopes for Obama too, he has potential to get us going in the right direction.
However, I would have much rather seen Ron Paul win!

I see no hope.Maybe a few changes here and there just to hold the american public over, but no REAL progress. And by progress i mean Restoration.I dont think he'll repeal the Patriot Act, and i dont think he will give us anymore freedom than we have had during Bush's Reign.A small part of me,DEEEEEEEEEEP DEEEP DOWN, hopes that everything i've read, seen, and heard turns out to be wrong. But i doubt it.The only reason I am even the least bit happy that Obama won is because of the fact that he is a black man in appearance. That change from old white men since the beginning, to a black man, is a relief. But only the future will tell.

“Yes we can, Si se puede,” I remember chanting these words when I used to accompany my parents to Cesar Chavez rallies and boycotts. At the beginning of Barack Obama’s campaign I was surprised to hear Mr. Obama use the same famous words that I had once yelled out. At that time my family and I were fighting for a change, a change to once and for all give farm laborers a humane workforce environment free of pesticides, free of wage corruption, a workforce environment with purified drinking water, portable sanitation restrooms, and working contracts. Mr. Obama has deeply influenced me with his examples of hard work and determination in working as a community organizer. His previous work area has provided him with an insight to social structure and cultural diversity. I believe that his talent of social organizing and the history of humanity have allowed him to see the importance of positive interactions and effective communication. He has learned that despite social differences the divine truths of hard work, honesty, and respect, culminate in the integrity of the individual. As such, I believe he will strive to improve our country. Even though the damage left by our Republican brothers and sisters maybe too great to alleviate in four years we must have HOPE.

I think the election of an African American President does bring change, I mean even inside of me I am latin light skin from the hood, and I asked myself starting yesterday can I still say the word nigga like before namean my nigga lol. I do like his views on health care. But I always knew he was going to win because the U.S. needed this new face to do business around the world, because American cars are shit around the world from what I see and read, Bush was killing all type of business I guess. I roll with Rev wright, Inside of me I didn't like when Obama distanced himself from him was that really a Revolutionary move, O bama didnt really mentioned nothing about Imperialism about 911, about thirld world countries like martin luther king or malcolm x did right? I mean some how inside of me I think they paved the way him win, because alot of stations and newspapers were against mc bush and sarah stalin. I think he still considers Chavez a dictator which me being a Latin, I'm against anybody who thinks being a rvolutionary a dictator, and unlike many Iraqui people I would fight defending chavez against any race here in the U.S. because I beleive that he helped the south from the heart, but he is kind of loco, lol. but I havent been in venezuela to really see if they are o.k. overthere, but venezuelan people love him from what I see. I mean I hope Obama brings more unity for all of America the South and North even though Unity is heading us to Globalization rapidly, but I hope he doesnt see us in the south as minor but as brothers and really helps us and stop these fucking ass holes from trying to exploit us, and Revolution still has to go on, it's something inside of me, like when I see a pretty girl that before I would have sweated her. but know I'm revolutionary and I tell myself what's the difference between me and her, or when I see a rich person or a rich designer, who are they just people as oppose to before when I would feel kind of minor infront of them. I'm sorry If I messed up some spelling my dude, keep helping people.

like malcolm x said some blacks loved their master more then the master loved himself. i think who barack puts in his circle will tell alot about the president he's gonna be. if it's the same old handlers then you know he's gonna be bad for the people (i really would like everyone to come together over peace and justice and under who better then barack hussein obama). but to look at the immediate plus, at least whites now know blacks can be more then just "drug dealers and janitors".

Over here in the UK there has been obvious joy amongst everyone I have met with and at a show yesterday I sensed a communal spirit I haven't done since the anti-Iraq war marches.

I have heard so many people here say that this is the first time that they can say to their children "you can achieve anything" and truly believe it. I do think that this in itself is a positive thing. To have someone in a position of power that people may be able to relate to even if only on a racial level, in a country that was stolen and built on racism, is momentous.

However, amidst the jubilation it is important to take stock and consider what all this may truly mean and what real changes, if any, are to come, especially when most of the people who are really controlling factors have not changed. Your post has helped me do this and I thank you for that.

The world will be watching carefully, I do hold hope in my heart and although I am a naturally realistic and often cynical person, I am savoring this new feeling. It is the first time in my life that I have looked to the powers that be (in the US/UK) with a slight belief that they, or at least he, holds some of the same hopes for the world that I do.

With respect as always,

ONE TOUGH ACT TO FOLLOW (STILL AN ASSHOLE)
Brian Brewington

I am no political genius.Though I consider myself to be quite intelligent, and even more so capable of reading into who people truly are by thier words and actions, and better yet reactions. The truth in the matter is I am a 21 year old white/part Cherokee Indian kid from Philly.Since about age 13 I've had a natural distrust for people in general instilled in my soul.ESPECIALLY POLITICIANS! They all lie. It comes with the territory unfortunately. However I can honestly say that I strongly believe in Obamas integrity, charisma, and willingness to do (or atleast put forth his most honest attempt) what is right for this country. Now I am not saying that I think he told "The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth" during his campaign. That would make me extremely naive, and as ignorant as the fucks who went and voted McCant simply because of his skin color.

I believe I saw McCain for what he truly was and would have become,If elected president.A liar who said what he had to say to get elected. His campaign was nothing more then a series of slanderous attacks. It was like a political version of a mainstream rap diss track, they just repeatedly played, and played. This campaign made me ashamed to be white at a certain point. I heard some of the people closest to me, as well as those closest who are close to me say some of the most farfetched, ignorant and just altogether false statements during this campaign.McCain could've said that if elected, he was going to take a piss on the constitution and our "rights" as americans while dragging the corpse of a puppy behind his limo every where he went...and these racist, uninformed idiots still would have voted for him.

I have alot more to say on this issue but unfortunately I can hear my baby boy waking up upstair via the baby monitor I have sitting next to me.The american people made the right decision, thank god.I just hope (and I believe he will) Barack follows through with the things he spoke about, and I hope he truly meant every word he spoke during debates and speeches.I think we just may have recieved the change that this country has been so desperately longing for,for the past 8 years.

I'm a skeptic. Change is not going to come from one person, but from the people in society, so yes all politics is local. Right now its all just rhetoric to me, but what has been telling is that at least it looks like the majority of Americans with voting power are responding to the ideology of change (although still a concept of change with its limitations). The day you see me wearing an Obama t-shirt is the day he pardons Mumia- I think its the least he could do from the white house and would become a signal of what political risks he's willing to take to move towards some real authentic change. Although presidents in the past have done so at the end of their terms, I believe they have the power to do so at any point in their terms. We'll see...

dear god that scares me. I am glad to see there are enough people who can atleast follow the logic of others that we could elect someone. It seems america is becoming more liberal, and maybe soon enough we could get rid of the two party system, maybe people can stop blind faith, and maybe we could continue to elect people who will try their best to actually help this country, instead of those who will simply try their best to make others hate their opponents.

The die hard right wingers just can't give into reason (much like die hard left wingers). if they had elected ron paul in the primaries, the republicans may have actually had a chance. of course, being that there are apparently only two political parties in america, there isn't a whole lot of room for vastly differing opinions.

Well spoken. Fact is, McCain ran a dirty campaign whereas Obama's was near flawless. I also have high hopes for Obama but I also fear being let down.

You speak words of truth, my friend.

Unfortunately, the idea of hope can only be held on for so long, for as you said, "it's a powerful drug." When I heard Obama speak, after he was announced President-Elect, I could not hold back the emotion of what kind of history was made, and what kind of potential progress this could have in store. Also, I could not help but feel the frustration and the disgust of the past eight years.

Electing Rahm Emanuel as his Chief of Staff shows, in my opinion, one main thing:
1) Obama realizes, for better or for worse, that in order to really get some things done within this government, whatever they may be, he needs to have someone with experience. Let's be honest, here. Emanuel served both Clinton's and I can almost guarantee that Obama's Presidential Cabinet will look symmetrical to that of Clinton's. Prior to the elections, I was always saying, "If you like Bush, vote McCain. If you prefer Clinton, vote Obama.
"

Will electing Emanuel show any "real" progress? Time can only tell. For real all know is that at this point, any American would much rather prefer Clinton's eight years over Bush II's eight.

The one thing that left me a tad-bit worried was Obama's mention of how he may need two terms to get whatever he wants to get done, done. In complete honesty and fairness, to myself, by Obama saying that, he reminded me of 'W' back in 2004 saying that it would be a terrible mistake for the American people to change Presidents during a war. Will Obama need two terms to get things done? Quite frankly, I think if Obama doesn't get a nice 'honeymoon' period with Congress, Obama will be greatly rejected and disregarded. I really do hope that Obama comes through on the promises he has made. Obama is a man of great conviction, great wisdom, and I cannot help but get the feeling that he knows exactly what he is doing (once again, for better or for worse).

Will Obama fix this economy, help with the foreclosures, and find a way to justify, and/or pull out of the Middle East? We all know that Obama is going to back Israel 100%.
Will he attack Syria for 'supplying' the terrorists in Iraq just like Bush did two Sundays ago? Will he force Iran to shut down its nuclear ambitions? Will Venezuela and Russia continue to have 'Military drills' in Venezuela with Russian Warships carrying Nuclear-armed missiles? Will North Korea even listen to him? Will Obama re-align our allies in Europe and finally reestablish the friendships we had? Will Obama gain the respect of the Chinese and all the ideals they have for their economical hopes?

These are all questions that only time will tell. There is no denying that Obama's election victory was a much needed victory for the justification of what's left of the American Democracy. There is no doubt, not one bit of doubt, of the fact that the time we live in today is by far the most historical of times. In order to grasp that idea, we need to understand the fact that the American people are becoming frustrated. I am from El Paso, Texas, and the Latino community here is realizing that the American Dream is becoming more of a mirage every passing day. The American people, as a whole, are becoming incredibly curious as to what these people in Washington actually do and I firmly believe that it won't be long until the day comes where there is a fundamental change in the American Political system.

This is only the beginning of the fight. This is only the first step through the door. This is not the end of what has been the most interesting 221 years of human existence and all its flaws, but it is only the beginning.

With impeachment groups already forming via Facebook and MySpace, it seems like this is going to be the most interesting four years.

I agree with Tech about Obama being a truly unifying force, but can he make a difference for our country. Can he pass legislation that will directly effect my standard of living? That question remains to be answered and to be honest...I'm not lookin for anyone to help me. I understand that succeeding in my terms will require educatin, discipline and hard work, not my government's help or aid. I do hope the government works to both level the playing filed as well as elivate the standards for education in this country. The financial crisis was a wake up call to America, to everyone who voted for deregulation, for anyone who purchased real estate simply because they got bank rolled and not because they could afford it. People need to learn to take care of themselves in America. They need to be better educated about capitalism, credit, taxes, banking and business all together. Obama can't teach you how to manage your life better and he shouldn't be there to bail you out either. This is the only perception in this election that I think is a major thorn in our side. Now that we have this special person in office we will expect life to change somehow, but it's not pragmatic and a ideology based on American ignorance about the governemt, the economy and foreign relations. Furthermore, Obama wants to re-hash Afghanistan when 9/11 should first be reinvestigated. I think that alone tells you that Obama is just another figure head under control of other entities and allowed to perpetrate as a leader when he is nothing more than a tactic to me. The trojan horse.

when a group of people legitimately or even sometimes illegitimately feels as though they've been oppressed, it leaves them ripe for grasping at a straw. That straw is Obama.

I don't blame black people, and I see where they are coming from. The sooner we can eliminate racism, the better. It's just another tool for the powers that be. We are all the little guys, regardless of race, religion or gender. We are all pawns. The biggest loss in Obama's win is that black people traditionally (and with good reason) mistrust the government.

Guess what? They probably don't anymore. It's not like the powers that be feared militant feminists, so it makes sense that they'd take care of black skeptics first.

I personally an not racist at all. I consider racism to be another form of collectivism. But it makes me sad how so many black people are more focused on Obama's skin color than on his stance on the issues. That attitude makes them far more racist than the majority of white people in America. Anyone who believes race is a relevant part of all of this is nothing more than a complete idiot.

When they are carting people off to FEMA camps, color will not be an issue. They will cart us off black or white.

I am living for the day when this country transcends race, age, gender, religion, party, sex pref, etc. and votes for the cream of the crop. When nothing else matters but the person's declaration of principles; level of intelligence; knowledge; wisdom; and experience.

Tech be aware of the establishment. Obama has no real power except to influence the opinions of Americans which can be truly dangerous if he is a puppet like most other politicians. He is so popular people aren't questioning him. His administration has the true power, and unfortunately, our system is so damn corrupt everyone is rotten to the core. The truly elite, the monarch families of the myth that is America, make our agendas and use politicians and the media to do their dastardly deeds. While there was a true rallying cry behind Obama, I don't believe our votes truly counted. What better way to control people then to keep the illusion of democracy? Don't close your eyes now that Obama is president. There is still alot of work to be done, and unfortunately, we will have NO help from anyone in the establishment, including Obama. This election was important in the fact that it woke up a slumbering beast- the American public- for the first time in decades. The result of this awakening is just what is needed, but Obama is not our hope. Our hope is in ourselves, not some candidate chosen for us.

"Racism hasn't disappeared and you can always tell a racist/ignorant person by their notion that because Obama is president that we live in a post racial America. It is a sign of progress, it is a great triumph for all people, (after all we forget Barack is half white too.) It is very inspirational, but inspiration alone doesn't complete a crusade.

The modern day Green Party wants to be the national nest for all local grassroots social justice movements in the country. Cynthia McKinney is sticking to the cause. "America's Great Hope" greatly anticipated
As the world looked on, I felt the anxiety summonned by the potential wave of change,
Can a "black" man truly find his place in the "white" house?
The stage was set and I felt a wave of relief hearing that the 44th President was indeed Senator Barack Obama...this was however short-lived.

Though an ispirational speech can temporarily move hearts , it takes real action to convince the sober-minded.

And at the dawn of the 5th November,2008 suddenly the world doesn't have the US elections to absorb its attention and the true depth of the shoes Mr. Obama must fill comes to the fore-front.

Can he fulfill expectations, justified expectations some aged beyond his years?
When all the fanfare is over can his calibre really be weighted against the likes of Martin Luther King?
A man untested leaves the cloud of anxiety over his ability.

In a world of deceit , nothing can be swallowed whole-heartedly.

I remain a spectator without a voice yet inevitably affected by another mortal's desicion.

cuz obama and his historical campaign couldnt be stopped???
what about the illuminatis campaign or wallstreets campaign??
whos really controllin our thoughts, emotions, and the economy???
us??? do we all jus wanna talk bout politicians and their lives?
do our lives revolove round them??? or do they revolve round us???
whos controllin who???

"demos" means mob or people
rule by the mob its a roman greco model from empires which raped the earth.

but still its used religiously by "organ"izations which seek progress
r we lead to believe that democracy works now??? will it ever???
will democracy not have slaves ??will democracies not have wars???
whats it all worth??? trickery is my guess.

wars r planned.

enron was planned
slavery is planned
prisons r planned
economies r planned
9-11 was _______
jfk was_____
pearl harbor was _____
why would an election for the presidency not b planned???
maybe not this time
once again the masters playin us in their pantheon.

people believe everything they see on tv and accept it as real cuz its in the corporate stadium
whats really goin down thou???
peep game. order out of chaos.

as usual capitalism makes a problem.
bush,war on terror, cancer etcetcetcetcetc
quite recently this economic "crisis"
(as if capitalism isnt intrinsically always in a crisis ) but see thats the chaos!!!!
people scared bout the economy people scared bout s.s.
, homeloans,"investments" etcetcetc
noww
obama is the order. now everyone feels safe.

why ??? becuz people let the preist get them into heaven instead of livin in heaven rite now! and people let the congressman save their country instead of liberatin themselves???
people dont grow their own food???
people dont build their own homes???
we r in a society that is dependant on services and we need someone to do everything for us

if america gets attacked again will obama blindly follow the "intelligence""???
may i remind everyone that the govt has historically co opted "leaders".

they fund your hero and ur villain.
who has money like that???
thats why all of these politicians can sit in the same room with each other and shake hands with each other. same party.

obviously i think presidents r selectd jus as Fred hampton jr has pointd out.

i wonder if he thinks that about this one?????
the money makers know who its gonna b
miss america knows she can only rule with an iron fist for so long
then they have to ease up win citizenrys heart again. theyre so nice when they wanna b.

jerks!!

what if bush and his cabinet was killed ??
would that have shown more change then obama winning???
would have obama still won if that happened??
well, we will never know becuz thats not america.

america waits until she has a disease to go see the dr.

then votes the disease away. in one clean wash.

no america the cleansing is coming not that military or ethnic cleansing

people say change has finally happened
well what about the changes that average people r makin everyday???
no not them. as if change isnt always happening.

r we lead to belive that elections work now?
does the system work???hmmmmmmmm
does capitalism work??????
can mumia be freed ???
r we all being controlled by a higher force??
a force guiding human development???
human events ?? the answer.

no obama got elected democratically
democracy works again. dont hate.

The Only Constant is Change Immortal. I was anticipating this blog for a while and it was what I expected. You see the power this leader has to unite, but you take it with a grain of salt. True, we have to be objective and analytical and not be guided by faith. I liked your conclusion, this is a step in the right direction for the United States and indeed the world, it shows how far we have come as a society. I hope Barack implements many social democratic programs, plus takes a peaceful, rational stance in foreign policy. The best part about it, is that The Republican Partys reputation is so ruined by the last 8 years, that I think it will take decades for them to recover. The Republican Party has now become a regional party embedded in the rural midwest and Texas. While the large urban populations of the coast are now democratic, which is good news since the biggest states other than TX. Which is CA, NY, and FL seem to be steadily democratic now. But Like you, I take this election with cautious optimism. Only Time will Tell.
