"God always defines love by pointing towards His Son."
As I think of what Joshua Harris wrote, it really comes into perspective as I apply it to my own relationship with the girl of my life. When one thinks of love, they think of sweet candy-coated kisses, hugs, heart-shaped chocolate boxes, and basically all the superficial things that are nice, but not really necessary. When one thinks of love, they think of things that would make themselves happier, of what the other person can do for them. They think of love without sacrifice, love for themselves.
It's a tremendous shot back to reality whenever I find myself stuck in defining love like that, when I realize that sometimes I find myself demanding more than what I should give, wanting more than I know I deserve. And I know I deserve nothing.

I'm Thankful that because of what Christ did on that cross all those years ago, my mistakes are forgotten, my old self is dead and buried. However, there are times when I choose to dig up those bones and allow them to hurt me once more.
Yet through all my flaws, my imperfections, through every heartbreaking thing I did in my past, she took me just as I am, and I love her for that.

I love her.

"God always defines love by pointing to His Son."
The beautiful thing about Britnai is that she doesn't let my impurities stain this special thing God gave us.
Christ took every single sin of disobedience and shame, and had them nailed to the cross with Him so that such would never hurt us any longer, so that our terrible pasts may never come back to haunt what is good. Just like Christ, Britnai forgets what I've done, and loves me for who I am, and who I will be, without questions. Unconditional, sacrificial, genuinely, completely.
Love should never be less than perfect.
God's love is perfect.
And when God defines love, He points to perfection.
It's something we should all apply in our daily lives, in all our relationships be it with friends, parents, significant others, strangers, enemies. To love completely, without obstacles, without holding anything back. To love just as Jesus loves, sacrificing everything for the good of the other, without expectations to gain anything in return.
That's love, that's what it's all and should always be about.
