Support Vegan Animal Rights Activists In Jail

Please add their myspaces to your friends, leave comments, and write to them in prison.

Sean Kirtley

FREE SEAN KIRTLEY - POLITICAL PRISONER!

http://www. myspace. com/supportsean

Sean Kirtley was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in jail in May 2008 for his part in a prolonged campaign against the company (Sequani) and other Herefordshire businesses. He was arrested for doing nothing more than holding a banner and opposing animal abusers. Police phone and internet records had Sean pegged as an organiser of the Sequani protests. This was not the case, but he updated the SSAT website which made him a prime target for police and government to target.

Please take the time to write to Sean:

FYI Seans Birthday is 11th December

Seans new prison does not allow stamps to be sent. Please include a Self Addressed envelope if you want a reply from Sean.

Find out more about Sean at http://supportsean. wordpress. com

Don was arrested in March 2006. He is serving an indeterminate sentence of 12 years, with a minimum of 6 years, which means he is imprisoned for an unlimited time (interned). His actions were claimed in the name of the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) as acts of compassion against collaborators with notorious animal torturers Huntingdon Life Sciences.

Sarah Whitehead

http://www. myspace. com/supportsarah

Sarah Whitehead is a committed vegan activist who has dedicated her life to saving animals and helping people. She worked tirelessly as a nurse whilst rescuing and rehoming abused and neglected animals, as well as campaigning against the notorious Huntingdon Life Sciences.

Sarah went on trial for burglary in June 2008 for rescuing an abused beagle.

Sarah pleaded not guilty to the offence. She told the court she believed she had acted reasonably and honest and that it was the right thing to do because the police and RSPCA had failed to save this dog. Statements from the neighbours were read in court which described the cruelty to the dog: It lived outside in a wooden cage, muzzled, and fitted with an electric shock collar. The neighbours testified they had witnessed beatings from its owners, and heard the dog screaming on many occasions. But bizarrely the jury took the view that Sarah should have left the dog where it was and she was found guilty.

Sarah was already on a suspended sentence for rescuing animals from a notorious puppy farmer in West Sussex (see www. sarconline. co. uk/porter) which meant that if she re-offended within two years she would be sent to prison for that "crime". The judge sentenced Sarah to two years in prison, nine months of this is from the suspended sentence she was on, and the extra 1 1/3 years is for rescuing the beagle.

Please show Sarah that she is not alone, and that whilst she is in prison she is not forgotten. You can do this by writing her a letter or card.

Unfortunately they are not allowing anyone to send in any books, dvds, cds etc in any form.

What you can send: Envelopes, non-ring bind writing paper, Average style biros, and a book of stamps, single stamps or SAE (stamp addressed envelopes).

He is being treated as a convicted prisoner as he is on remand, but already given a guilty plea. So at the moment, as a basic prisoner, he is only allowed two visits a month.

The trial for the other defendants is due to start on the 29th September 2008 at Winchester Crown Court.

Please add the Support Dan myspace to show your support, and send letters of support to the address above.

Gregg & Natasha Avery and Heather Nicholson

http://www. myspace. com/shacukprisonersupport

Gregg & Natasha Avery and Heather Nicholson were arrested and remanded into custody on May 1st 2007. They were charged with "conspiracy to blackmail" Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) and are currently being remanded in prison. On 30th July 2008 Gregg and Natasha entered a plea of guilty and Heather is pleading not guilty. Heather's trial is booked to start on the 29th September 2008 at Winchester Crown Court (UK) and might take as long as six months. Gregg and Natasha will be sentanced at the end of that trial.

The charges against all activists are politically motivated and pleas of guilty are due to the likelihood of being convicted by a jury and not whether they are actually guilty. The "conspiricy to blackmail" charge carries a maximum 15 year prison sentence.

Gregg, Heather and Natasha have said on many occasions the best way of supporting them and the other defendents is to get out there, do demos, write letters, do what you can. There are campaigners fighting HLS all round the world so please if you can please get involved. (SHAC).

You can also write to them.

You can email Heather and Natasha through www. refusedbail. com, emails cost 30 pence (£0.30) each and are delivered directly to them. The emails are all read by prison authorities and there is no facility allowing Heather or Natasha to reply. It is however a good and relatively cheap way of showing your support, especially if your based overseas.

What a terrible injustice! These people are heroes and instead they are treated like criminals. Something has to be done to change these absurd laws. I have added them to my friends. I will spread the word about this. Thanks for posting this blog, Moon Warriors. May God bless you for being such a wonderful person.

How up to date are these? I'd like to make sure before writing. For the prisoners who cannot receive anything other than letters, how can they respond without stamps or writing materials (or does the prison provide them)?

Also, can we use fake names and P.O. Boxes?

Thanks!

Check with each of the myspace pages for any changes in info. Prisons vary - some say send writing paper & stamps, some say different. Check with the myspace profiles. I see no reason why you can't use PO boxes. No reason to use your one name. Keep the content neutral, avoid saying anything that can get the prisoner into trouble - remember that all mail will probably be read by prison staff.
