Behold a Crooked Smile

So the world is nothing but disillusion
and happiness is a fading memory.
Snarling at troubles, sucking up depression
and hitching up broken shoe strings
because the old leather boot straps
was last weeks dinner.
Behold a crooked smile
and betray the poor mans blues.
Intentions spoil the empty pot
restless in a dusty cubbard.
Today’s food for ambition
the hunger of discomfort.
Work is the sunrise
flavoring empty promise.
Tomorrow, tomorrow…
and hope sizzles
with the setting sun.
The dark material is cold.
Dreams are a blanket warming
the soul as the spirit defies retreat.
Tonight the world is illusion
that’s all there is left to eat.
Disillusion will wait till Good Morning.
Behold a crooked smile.
