Ohio whip artist to appear on The Bonnie Hunt Show.
(Dayton, Ohio) Jamestown, Ohio whip artist and writer Gery L. Deer and his wife and stage partner Barbara are set to demonstrate their supersonic skills on an upcoming episode of the nationally syndicated The Bonnie Hunt Show. The episode featuring the whip-cracking couple will tape on Thursday November 13 at NBC studios in Hollywood, California and is expected to broadcast Monday, November 17.
Deer, 41, is an internationally recognized whip artist and instructor. Besides stage performances, he also holds several local and national whip targeting speed and accuracy competition titles. He and Barbara, 38, who is known as "Scout" to their fans, have appeared on the CW's "Steve Harvey's Big Time Challenge," and they were a featured act in the 2006 season of NBC's "America's Got Talent."
Talk show host Bonnie Hunt is best known as an actor and comedian staring in such movies as the "Cheaper by the Dozen" series opposite Steve Martin. For local air times, there is a complete broadcast schedule is available on the show's website at www.bonniehunt.com.
In addition to his whip work, Deer is a freelance writer and editor with hundreds of published articles including several nationally-run features on the art and sport of whip handling. Deer has been glad to see the positive surge of interest in the whip over the last decade and he wants to help keep the momentum.
"Anytime I get to present whip artistry in a fun and entertaining venue I enjoy the work," said Deer, whose custom-designed whip holstering equipment was used in the 2003 feature film, "The Rundown." "But it's always better when there is a live audience and we're looking forward to having a lot of fun on Bonnie's show."
Deer will also be appearing live on stage during the Wintergarden Wonderland holiday festival in Dayton, Ohio in the atrium of the Schuster Performing Arts Center. He will be performing from 12 Noon until 1 p.m. on Sunday November 20 with The Brothers & Co. Entertainers.
