The one thing I didn't have to deal with at Howard was having "fake friends," and that is truly a blessing. It's great to have sisters you can laugh with when times are good, and lean on when things aren't so peachy.
When I first made my page, I had a special shout-out section to my favorite people. But somehow it disappeared. So this entry is for the great people in my life (who also happen to be on MySpace) because without you guys, I would have checked into the psychiatric ward a long time ago...
The rest of the Fantabulous Four:
"I swear... we've been keeping drama going on since the day we met." -- Tara
Vonda!
My homie, my sister, my best friend! Vonni has held me down from day one, and it's rare to find people who are loyal as she is. She's by biggest cheerleader and my most honest critic, and I can always count on her to give it to me straight, no chaser.
Tara Jean
I was just a tomboy who didn't wear belts before Tara got her prissy hands on me.
The prototype for classy in every sense of the word, Ms. Thang showed me what it meant to be -- not just look like -- a lady. Don't get it twisted though. She will get Cincy on you.
Jazzmania
Maybe we'll have a "Pimp My Page" workshop when I visit this weekend. Or we'll go find some trouble to get into. Jazz is always down for whatever, even if that does include some half-baked plan to charm our way into a certain apartment to reclaim certain property. When everyone else is thinking of a way to say no to adventure, Jazz is grabbing her coat, keys and blade and getting ready to go.
Those I've picked up along the way:
"You are worth more than gold." -- Gena
Valerie
I owe her at least five stacks for the counseling she's given me. I love this girl to death... even if she does call me with the most random questions. She has a H.E.A.R.T. like no one else I've seen, and is able to give so much because she truly cares about those around her.
Kellss
A granny at heart, she's definitely the only girlfriend I've ever met on the internet. (LOL! How weird does that sound?) Kelly is gonna be the bomb principal one day, and that's because she works for things she believes in, and does what her heart tells her to. And even when times are tough, she finds a way... that's the kind of inspiration every girl needs in her life.
Gena
The reason why I'm teaching dance now. She came. She saw. She molded me into the performer I am now. (Which is why I'm itching to go get on a stage somewhere after I clock out of the 9-to-5.) I'm still trying to understand her self-imposed celebrity status, but I love her even more because of it. She is not afraid to let you know she is a diva and that she expects to be treated as such. And she wants no less for the rest of the Gena George Girls (an exclusive group of which I'm a proud, card-carrying member!).
Nadea
Okay... it's hard to put this one into words. LOL. But Nadea is so much fun, she makes you forget about life's troubles. (Unless, of course, she's talking about how the world is going to blow up at any minute.) We have TOTALLY different tastes in men, music and clothes, but that's what makes being her friend even more fun. Everyone needs someone to bring them out of their comfort zone.
So, just to let you guys know, even when I forget to call or can't make it to visit, you all are on my heart and mind all the time. I love you madly!
