I am reliably informed that my last message was Christmas 2007. I am also given to believe that the distance between Christmas 2007 and Christmas 2008 is 12 months or, as we in the music business refer to it, one year.

This is quite frankly unforgivable and you'd be perfectly within your rights to have me thrown to the dogs or, at the very least, stripped naked, covered in golden syrup and thrown to Nigella Lawson.

First of all, my sincere apologies to the inhabitants of the village of Little Bedingfield. Due to the onset of an unsightly rash, I am unable to fulfil my duties as the back end of the pantomime horse in the local Operatic Society's production of Jaws 2.

Secondly, my humble gratitude to all the staff at ShortHouse Records. Their vision, sense of duty and ability to recite Byron and yodel at the same time have left me awestruck and ever so slightly queasy. Special thanks goes to Maureen in accounts. Her efforts in organizing the Christmas party did not go unnoticed. The stand out moment for me was her re-enactment of the Battle of Sebastopol using only her support stockings and a bucket of crème fraiche. Indeed, she will be receiving a hefty bonus once the buildings insurance has kicked in and she's out of hospital.

Fourthly (thirdly was cancelled to lack of ticket sales) my very best wishes to all long suffering visitors to this site and my heartfelt thanks for your continued support. Your 50th birthday messages were all gratefully received. It has been my pleasure and privilege to have been able to perform for some of you this year and I hope to be seeing more of you on my travels in 2009.

Seventhly (fifthly and sixthly have been removed on the advice of my lawyers) have a great Christmas.

Big love

Nik (and the lovely Sarah)

I shall be holding my breath in the hopes your "travels in 2009" bring you to the United States (Boston or NYC in particular). If this visit should not occur by February 28, 2009, please send someone to collect the remains of my body and bring some scented candles to cove the stench of my rotting corpse. Thank you.

Oh, and Happy Holidays, a wonderful 2009, and here's looking forward to more music from you soon!

Never thought after reading the said post of mixing the back end of a pantomime horse with Jaws 2.
Scarily with the pantomime end of things, it's making me think of Rentaghost with the late/great Roy Scheider as Timothy Claypole... anyhoo!

Hope you and everyone at home had a great Christmas! 2009 will be a sweeter and brighter place for us all!

First, there's no way you're fifty because then that makes me 41, something I just refuse to accept.

Next, I've enjoyed Radio Musicola all over again over the last two or three weeks, having put my cassette version onto my iPod thingy.

Additionally, this bit had been dropped but I restored it because the joke seemed to be wearing thin.

Finally, havea grea New Year and good luck for 2009!

Martin.

Thanks for this great new blog, hope you've spend a fantastic Christmas day with family and friends.

I'd like to give you a little present in the form of a chorus which is credited like this : Lyrics by me, Music by you.
Please I would kindly request to you to have a special attention to the meaning of these lyrics !! :-)

Near UK in Europe there's a land interesting
Where a young man of France is indeed living in
And he's keen on a music from a guy (Mister K)
Who performed at the time of a great Sept' gig

But he never returned since 99'
And last year it came in the Pyrenees
...WHERE I LIVE !!

Happy Christmas back at you Nik, also from another Texan (presently, anyway). Your wit never ceases to amaze me, whether in prose or song. In fact, my New Year's Resolution shall be "to be as witty as Nik Kershaw!" To wit, perchance to dream...

Best wishes to you and Sarah!

Lol. Giggle, giggle....

Big Love.

The thought of you naked and covered with golden syrup is rather exciting, actually. Since you're a musical dude, it's perfectly understandable that there are gaps in time between your blogs, messages, etc.

Merry Christmas!!!

Just when I was about to throw myself into a rabid pack of midnight Wal-Mart shoppers because I hadn't read any wit from our beloved Mr. Kershaw in QUITE some time, you came through in the 11th hour.....literally. Did I mention it had been quite some time? And like the others stateside, we are hoping to get you over here so we can have you all to our greedy little selves! Don't make us come across the pond, we will embarrass you in a most hideous fashion.
Perhaps dressing in a video outfit like "Wouldn't It Be Good"!! We have the technology! Don't make us do it Nik!! We are a wiley bunch ya know!

Peace, tranquility, and thanks for the wonderful salmon pâté recipe.

It was divine, and I'm told the rash will fade after another week of epsom salt treatments. My wife, God rest her soul, said she couldn't eat enough. The kids, well once the neighbor kids are let out of hospital, I'm told their social lives could be back together after as little as six months of anticonvulsive therapy.

We're all right as rain, except for the cat, who still won't come out of the attic. I think the fungal infection might have spread. I knew I should have tossed those capers last year.

Anyways, enough about us.
Happy holidays from your number 247th fan!

-Joe G.

P.S. Grandmother sends her love. She also sent a few pessaries, her parakeet Bob, and herr dentures. She's not quite as sharp as she used to be, but you know she means well.

All The best Nik,

I have been going through a worrying phase because I have just turned 40 and am still performing, when I started out at 15 I never imagined this age, I remember watching you in Liverpool in 1987, you inspired me then and even more now, I am glad you are still playing, hope to see you again someday.

merry christmas Joe W

Thanks Nik

I was watching some of your bits and pieces on you tube the other day including some footage (recorded on someones mobile I think) of you singing "The one and only" .......

Absolutely awesome.
Have you got any good quality recordings of you doing that?

Also you were doing a show ( I think it was in Norway?) and did versions of "Wouldn''t it be good" and "I won't let the sun go down on me" ......... again, brilliant!

Love the stuff you do, keep up the good work.

When are you next playing in the Midlands, would love to come by and see you perform again ....

Have a great Christmas

Hi Nik
Me again have you ever thought of doing an album of you singing the stuff you've written for others over the years , I'm sure all us Myspace buddies would buy in a flash .
I've almost worn out 'You've Got to Laugh'

Hi Nik hope to catch you in Stratford- upon-Avon this year , ill health and bad timing kept me from the 2008 gigs. Does 'the lovely Sarah' have something to do with why you have been away from us all for the past year? Don't blame you if this is the case life is for living after all. All the best for 2009.
