"Musicians
recording from home will always be more interesting than those having
wet dreams of some big shot producer taking their sound to the next
level. For some reason the result is always more original and
interesting when recorded in the bedroom, despite those necessary flaws
and imperfections. Perhaps the reason for this is that the artist and
the artist’s work are not separated by a filter, there being no need to
accommodate to another persons wishes. Andy Love (or Anders as he is
called)
records everything from the safe corners of his own home, and it is
telling in every single note of his music. From the broken sound of the
drums, the alien-like feel of the voice and in the melancholic
strumming of the acoustic guitar. Each melody has its own feeling of
claustrophobia, as if recorded in some cold and dark military bunker in
1945. I also think of Belle & Sebastian, the monotone of post-rock,
and of sunny school graduations. In tracks like “UNIR” and “Free Stress
Test” Anders displays his ability to write melodies that don’t leave
your mind for a long time. It’s hard to find a common ground of
references when listening to Anders music. That must be seen as a good
thing. He’s got his very own expression that is dreamy, insightful,
ugly, beautiful, sad and happy all at once."
