Duncan House Concerts has starting a new acoustic music series in Ventura, CA. For almost 10 years (in our old home near west L.A.) these private music parties hosted some of the best folk/singer songwriter in the United States and beyond (for a partial list of these artists, see the bottom left corner of the profile).  The series was even featured on CNN. This is not a business; we do this for our friends and neighbors (any nice people within driving distance), and the artists (100% of donations go to the artist) as a labor of love.  Simply put, we have monthly house parties for our extended neighbors, allowing them to listen to the some outstanding professional folk/singer-songwriters as they pass through Ventura on their California tours. We also offer an intimate setting for the very best of Southern California acoustical artists to play.

These are private events, but anyone who enjoyed the music of Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor, Janis Ian, or Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young should contact us to be invited to these fun music parties  (scottd13@roadrunner.com).

Our first show was a sneak preview mid-week show in October with the talented David Massengill (NY folk/song-writer – raised in Tennessee).   The Grand Opening Show was a special holiday concert by the great Celtic band, Banshee in the Kitchen in December; over 60 people attend this show.   The "pics" section has multiple photo's taken by Kip, Mary Tulin's husband from the night.

We've completed the 2009 line-up (a show every 4 weeks on average).    The line-up is amazing!!

We are looking forward to attending next year's (November, 2009) Far West Folk Alliance Convention to discover more talented artist and book the 2010 series.    We were going to attend the national convention in Memphis (February, 2009), but unfortunately we can't afford to this year.  L

The success of the new series depends on keeping and building the audience base.   To repeat the plea in the profile section, we need to reach more and more people that loved music with great lyrics, harmonies, and are willing to listen to the professional musicians that are still create fantastic music (even though it does not get played on commercial radio).   Support Acoustical Music.   Support the Folk Alliance!   Spread the word.  See you (and your friends) at a future show.
