Author Kody Boye with Sunrise
Dakota Travis and Steve Earnest have survived the zombie apocalypse for a whole month.
Forced to travel away from their beloved safe home when a violent gang makes its presence known, they find shelter in a converted asylum with a group of soldiers. One of these soldiers, a man by the name of corporal Jamie Marks, fears for their safety when sergeant Brooks starts making irrational decisions and rearranging the chain of command.
Regardless of this small issue, they have more to worry about other than who's in command or whose rank is higher than the other. When the zombies flock to the base and break in through the gate, Dakota is split away from his best friend.
Now, forced to face the reality of not seeing Steve again, he turns to Jamiein his time of need.
When the sun rises, the fight for survival is only beginning, especially when a new kind of zombie is just starting to make itself known. Bio of Author: After a lifelong dream of becoming a published author, Kody Boye's first short story, [A] Prom Queen's Revenge, was published in the Yellow Mama Webzine in 2007. Since that date, he has gone on to sell over a dozen short stories. His first novel, Sunrise, was published by Library of the Living Dead Press in 2009. www.kodyboye.itrello.com ---------------------------------------------------- 8-6-09
Author Frank E. Bittenger on Publishing and Writing.
Over the centuries, Frank Bittinger has experienced many lives. In this incarnation, Mr. Bittinger lives and writes in Western Maryland , sharing his home with a menagerie of pets, several alternate personalities, and the occasional ghost. He enjoys working as a cosmetologist in Cumberland.
Since he is eccentric, he has been known to be interested in books, frogs, and Christmas trees, amassing large collections of each—sometimes combining his interests, like the Christmas tree decorated entirely with frog ornaments and stuffed animals. And he also collects books on Dianetics and Scientology.
Ancient Egypt holds a fascination for him; he has a scarab beetle tattoo between his shoulder blades as well as a collection of Egyptian items in his bedroom and a somewhat large collection of books on Egypt.
He enjoys creating stories for his fans to read, saying, “I am a writer, a novelist. I write in the Gothic horror tradition: dark and moody. Someone once complimented me by saying my second book is ‘Sleek, sinister, and seductive.' I very much enjoyed hearing that.
"I've also been told I am across between Clive Barker and Anne Rice. A compliment, indeed, considering these are two legends of the craft.”
Frank believes writing is an art form, whether the writing is great literature or his own writing which he refers to as ‘schlock horror.'
“L. Ron Hubbard said ‘The artist injects the spirit of life into a culture' as well as ‘A culture is only as great as its dreams, and its dreams are dreamed by artists.' And I firmly agree. You cannot underestimate how important art is to a culture, to a civilization; without artists and art, a civilization cannot exist—it will wither and die.”
Part of the proceeds from the sales of his novels go toward helping find homes for abused, unwanted, or neglected animals. Over the years, he has been able to find homes for cats, dogs, lizards, birds, squirrels, mice, and hamsters, among others like goats and even fish.

Rock Band SFD (Six Feet Deep)
Members:
Brad Wilson: Lead Vocals, Guitars
www.myspace.com/bradwilsonSFD
Living in the Toronto area all of his life, BRAD drew inspiration from guitar greats such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Page & Stevie Ray Vaughan. Already an accomplished pianist and choir soloist, he picked up the guitar at the age of 14 and immediately began writing songs of his own. It was after seeing Aerosmith in concert that BRAD began focusing on writing heavy rock music with a groove. By the age of 19, BRAD had completed his first studio recording and had embarked on a path that would lead him to work with various touring bands over the following years including Spacetramp Cowboy in the late 80's, a band that MTV named as best underground band in Canada.
Today, BRAD has evolved into a songwriter who places the emphases on the song first, while also becoming a guitarist that can stand his own ground even in a three-piece band. Seeing SFD live has often left many asking where the band was hiding the other guitar player! It's not magic...just rock guitar the way it was meant to be!
Brad is also the host of the popular Internet radio show The Toronto Rock Radio Show which airs Monday nights at 8 ET on America's K94 Rocks (http://www.k94rocks.com/). The show, which features and interviews major and Indie label bands from around the world with a focus on up-and-coming Canadian talent, is the brainchild of Brad and his life-partner Tammy Miller who acts as GM for the show. Tammy also rmanages SFD through her management firm Miller Management. The show quickly gained a huge following after it debuted on August 4, 2008 as the number 1 show on K94. Today, The Toronto Rock Radio Show is the flagship show of K94 with more listeners than all other K94 shows put together! Brad's favourite bands: Theory Of A Deadman; Breaking Benjamin; Godsmack; Tool, Sixx AM; Thornley; Nickelback.

Kevin Gowin: Backing Vocals,Bass Guitar Born in Winnipeg, KEVIN moved to Toronto where his musical aspirations started at the age of seven when he picked up a badminton racket, pretending to play along to the 'Meet the Beatles' album. 'Dad was in the radio biz so there was always music going on around the house', says KEVIN. For many years KEVIN sang in choirs at school and church. While going through public and high school he played tuba 'oh gawd!' he exclaims, as well as cello and upright bass. While early on in high school Kevin got into bass guitar after seeing KISS in concert. 'Simmons was just so cool I wanted to learn all the songs he played'. KEVIN's first band was a funk band which purportedly taught him much about groove. He then moved on to blues and punk bands. After getting out of high school Kevin began playing in hard rock tribute bands, touring extensively playing AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Ozzy material. He also worked with original bands at such Toronto rock bastions as The Gasworks, Rock and Roll Heaven, and other notable clubs around the country. KEVIN says he really got fired up as to what was possible with bass after becoming a hardcore Rush fan and seeing Billy Sheehan of Talas play many times in Toronto. During this time KEVIN also started listening to a lot of Jaco, Stanley Clark and Stu Ham further broadening his musical perspective. KEVIN has also recorded and done session work at such studios as Phase One, Greenlight, Masters Workshop, Cottingham Sound, Chalet Studios, Studio92, Velvet Sound and Silver Birch Studios amongst others including the famous Metalworks where he recently recorded with Daniel MacMaster of Bonham fame for which ..SFD.. was the studio band under the direction of producer Nick Blagona (Deep Purple, Sting, King Crimson). KEVIN felt that this session in particular gave him the opportunity to learn so much from Blagona and MacMaster as well as hear so many great stories that are a part of rock n roll history. Kevin gets wired on: Steve Vai, Les Claypool, Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Billy Sheehan and Alan Holdsworth. KEVIN'S MAIN GEAR Guitars · '82 Lado SF · '74 Fender Fretless . The Rack · Korg rack mount tuner · Pod Pro rack mount · .Eden Navigator Preamp · YS 400-power amp · Various foot pedals Kevin likes the sound of the wind in the trees in the country and big PA's. Kevin dislikes people who don't signal, people that are arrogant, and toilet paper rolls installed the wrong way 'the paper comes off the top people, off the top!' Steve Scott: Drums www.myspace.com/60939378 Steve Scott was destined to become a drummer. The most powerful drummer. Period. From the first listen of Alice Cooper's " Muscle Of Love" album, and the powerful drum beat that starts it, Steve was hooked on wielding the drums. He loved the power and the conviction that went hand in hand with playing such a powerful instrument. So at the tender age of 12, he had pestered his parents enough to finally buy him his first kit. Quickly destroying that drumset, his formative years were spent honing his craft, while playing in various bands throughout the Calgary, and later Kingston areas, where he had relocated. He eventually hit the road, travelling in his first serious band " Street Legal", and that taught the bombastic young drummer the ins and outs of being in a travelling rock band. This experience had served him well, as he became a popular musician on the Kingston circuit as a sideman, as well as a band leader. His "take no prisoners" attitude towards the music as well as his positive outlook on any project he was involved with made him a " first call" drummer. After years of playing and many bands later, Steve still approaches playing with the youthful zest of a boy who has just discovered the joy of drumming, and plays with twice as much power and fire of the most seasoned veteran. And this is what your eyes and ears will witness, when you see Steve play in Six Feet Deep, the newest jewel in his musical crown. As he puts it, " have sticks, make noise! " Steve punishes Pearl Drums, Remo snare drums and heads, Sabian cymbals, and any stick he can get his hands on. Sound Equipment
BIO of Band:
Pure and simple, SFD is an explosive hard-rock trio that has been called everything from the “Hardest working band in the Indie scene” to the “Real Deal”. Often compared to greats Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, the band delivers a gut-wrenching, in-your-face wall of sound with songs that have meaningful lyrics that leave a lasting impression on the listener. Whether it’s one of their heavier songs or a charged up ballad, their music always displays a very personal side of the band that taps into their strong emotions about human life and social issues of the day. The intense energy the band delivers live is something that must be seen and has often left fans dazed and confused as to how a 3-piece band could be capable of delivering such a big sound that has resulted in humorous accusations by fans that the band hides another guitar player back-stage. As legendary engineer/producer Nick Blagona (Deep Purple, April Wine, Tea Party) once said after hearing the band’s track Little Girl, “This is one band I would really want to see live. You just know they would kick some serious ass”.
With their second release So Far Down in 2006, the band suddenly found themselves gaining in popularity all over the internet airwaves, being heard by scores of listeners and becoming one of the most requested bands on many of the major internet radio stations. “If you had told me that we would end up with the number 6 song for 2007 on the hugely popular syndicated Scott and Pam Show, or have the top requested song on Broadcast Asylum, reaching as many as 450,000 listeners per show, I would have said that’ll never happen,” says vocalist & guitarist BRAD WILSON. “We put our heart and soul into our music and sometimes we have this feeling like 'is it as good as it needs to be?' But to get both the fan and industry response we’ve received in the past couple of years validates everything for us. It gives us a good reason and motivation to keep forging ahead.” SFD is fronted by vocalist and guitarist BRAD WILSON (Spacetramp Cowboy), who is backed by the powerhouse rhythm section of bassist KEVIN GOWIN and drummer STEVE SCOTT (Detox). In 2002, with original drummer Brian Smyth, the band quickly broke into the Toronto club scene. Gaining enough local interest they quickly removed the words “Demo” from their first release Six Feet Deep (2003) and began selling it at shows. After completing the sophomore record So Far Down in late 2005, Smyth left the band in pursuit of other musical interests and the two remaining members found themselves with a CD that was ready to be released but without a complete band. The addition of NIALL MELLORS, who was known for his explosive stage show antics with previous band Smeer helped propel the band forward and over the following two years and the band became a staple on various radio formats, was the Studio band for Daniel MacMaster (Bonham) and shared the stage with the likes of Default, Kix, Ill Scarlet and Marianas Trench as well as headlining numerous major venues in Canada and the U.S. After spending nearly two years solely focusing on the U.S. market which meant an absence from the Canadian music scene, the buzz was on again for SFD on their home turf after an appearance at Indie Night In Canada 2009 (Canadian Music Week - March 11, 2009) and the time had come for more change with the band welcoming new drummer STEVE SCOTT (Detox) to the fold, who breathes new life into the music and who will play a critical role in the bands new material which fans are saying is "Theory Of A Deadman meets Godsmack meets Tool with a bit of Metallica thrown in there for good measure!" Since its release So Far Down has earned the band excessive amounts of airplay on internet, satellite and terrestrial radio. Their riveting track Little Girl was picked up as the theme song for a new television show and in early 2007 SFD also signed a deal with 509 Films that saw five of the band's tracks reaching a worldwide audience in the flick Vertical Ascent. SFD’s also found their way to the number 1 position on NumberOneMusic.com’s “Indie Rock Chart”. Not only did SFD beat out tens of thousands of other bands with this amazing achievement, but they also had an astonishing 8 songs in the top 20! The band is currently working on material for their third release while shopping for a deal. As Indielife Radio DJ “Wally-B” put it, “A record deal will be well deserved by the hardest working band I’ve ever seen in the Indie scene today. These guys deserve all the success in the world. SFD is a true role model for other bands and an inspiration to the music industry and its fans.” http://www.sfdrocks.com/

About The Author:
Born in September, 1962, Kathleen G. Collins struggled her entire adult life with Bipolar Disorder. After being properly diagnosed in 1994, she began the difficult journey to recovery. The long and uphill battle began shortly after the marriage to her true soul mate and the birth of her beloved son. She spent the next 15 years in a haze of constant mood swings, hundreds of medication combinations, suicidal tendencies and even hospitalizations. With the loving support of her family and friends, she finally stumbled upon several medications and a series of therapy sessions that proved to be effective. She is now happily living with her husband and son in the quiet San Joaquin Valley of California.
In the past, Kathleen had never professionally written anything, let alone a novella. However during her ordeal, she came to realize that she might actually be right brained and she found a great deal of comfort in writing. She had many poems published and wrote of her experience with Bipolar Disorder in her short memoir published at www.Storyhouse.org/Kathleen.html as well as in the Mar/Apr 2005 edition of Today's Health and Wellness magazine.
Then the time came for her to let out her anger and frustration with the many side effects that often come with taking so many different mind altering medications. The result of her efforts was the completion of the novella Suspended. It is the perfect medication Science Fiction story based on fact and personal experience. www.sonar4publications.com ------------------------------------------------------- 8-27-09

About The Author:
Ryan B. Clark was born in Tucson, Arizona to Stephen Clark and Daphne Tompkinson. His early years were spent in various towns, but always in Arizona. Eventually, after his parents seperation when he was still very young, his mother married Hendrick W. Seaney, Jr. and the family settled in the small mining town of San Manuel, about an hour North and East of Tucson. Ryan graduated high school at the top of his class in 1992. He went on to graduate with a BA in English Secondary Education from Arizona State University and get an MA in Creative Writing from Lacrosse University. Ryan describes himself as a life long writer, from writing small short stories in his youth, to poetry and short stories for his high school literary magazine - The Imagineer, to finally writing what he would describe as a major defining moment in Mrs. Linda Brooks' Junior English class, where he wrote the first draft of what would eventually become Scotland Yard Demons to the Halloween prompt, "It was a dark creepy night...". Scotland Yard Demons became Ryan's first published short story in Alan Draven's Sinister Landscapes Anthology in 2008 - seventeen years after its inception! Ryan has had a very full life. His first job was in the mill for the Magma Copper Company. From there he held jobs in video rental stores, Walgreen's, Bookman's, and eventually became an English teacher after his graduation from Arizona State University in 2000. While teaching in Arizona's White Mountains, he fulfilled another life long dream of getting into sled dog racing - something that he had fallen in love with since reading Jack London's Call of the Wild. While in Pinetop, Ryan took up breeding AKC Registered Alaskan Malamutes and participating in local sled dog events.
Ryan, on being asked about literature's affect on him, describes his favorite books as follows, "My first true horrific experience with a novel was Stephen King's IT - I couldn't put that book down! I read it on the floor of my room with the closet door open so that I could simutaneously see into the closet and under the bed at the same time. I was in seventh grade. Later, the novels that had monumental effects on me were Interview with the Vampire and The Witching Hour by Anne Rice, Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons, the novels of Andrew Vachss, and the short stories of Poppy Z. Brite. In terms of teaching - no author has had more of a profound influence on me than the master bard himself, William Shakespeare. Teaching Shakespeare, whether it was Macbeth, Othello, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Twelth Night, Julius Caesar, or the immortal Hamlet was absolutely wonderful. So many good memories. In terms of novels - my top list in terms of literature would have to be (in no particular order) - Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, Dickens' Great Expectations, Golding's Lord of the Flies, Vonnegut's God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, Huxley's Brave New World, Alexie's Indian Killer, Swift's Gulliver's Travels, Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, Hesse's Siddhartha, and Lao Tzu's Tao te Ching. Ryan eventually moved back to Phoenix, Arizona - where he now resides with his close friends, his beloved dogs Konan and Oberon, his son Aidan on every possible occassion, and the heat. Grave Whispers is Ryan's first novel, but others are on the way!
