Fall into AMA!
If you're thinking if you should join AMA, now is the time to do it. With so many great speakers lined up for the next 6 months, you don't want to miss out on unique member benefits, members-only events (Zappos.com mixer that was held on August 21st), and discounted member-pricing. There are also great sponsorship opportunities available to brand your business, garner attention and direct marketing professionals from all over the city to get to know you and your business. Also, all AMA members are invited to share awards, promotions, or nominate someone for the Member Spotlight that could be included in the next newsletter. Please contact Stacie Daigle at Stacie@suttonwatkins.com for more information.
Another great feature about AMA Las Vegas is that we are updating the website to accommodate your needs. We are including links to great marketing articles (Marketing Resources), new job openings (Job Posts), member resumes (Resume Post), member only discounts and we want you to get to know all your fellow members (and non-members) by hosting more special events and mixers. www.amalasvegas.com.
Also, be sure to stop by our booth at Las Vegas' Largest Mixer IV on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the Plaza Hotel and Casino. We are still looking for a couple of members to volunteer to man the booth at certain times. For more information on that, please contact Angela George at angela.george@hcahealthcare.com

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT on Michael Delaney
Q&A conducted by: Raquel James, Las Vegas Review Journal
1. Tell me about Las Vegas Tickets.com -- what is your business about? What's your product? How long as LasVegasTickets.com been around?
We are a ticket broker here in Las Vegas, with an office in Los Angeles. We buy hard-to-get tickets so that guests coming to Las Vegas can purchase tickets to shows that otherwise would be sold out. For instance, one of the most popular shows on the strip is Cirque du Soleil “O”. When guests come to Las Vegas looking for that show it is sold out 95% of the time, yet we can sit them in front row center each and every night it performs.
We not only do top shows, but concerts, sporting events and special events throughout the year. Our biggest sellers are O, LOVE, the Caesars Palace shows, Championship Boxing events, NASCAR, National Finals Rodeo and concerts such as Jimmy Buffett, Madonna and other named performers. We also sell tours, tickets into all the nightclubs in Las Vegas and just about anything you can imagine. We have been here in Las Vegas for 20 years and our owner has been in the Ticket Broker business for nearly 30 years.
2. What do you do in your position as Director of Business Development for LasVegasTickets.com?
My job as Director of Business Development incorporates several facets of our business, some of which does not necessarily fit the title. My ultimate goal is to make sure we get new business for our company. To do that there are a number of things I do. Of course, there is the work in the field, going to hotels visiting concierge, VIP representatives, casino hosts, player development executives and other important people who can influence ticket purchasing. We have a private live web site where our concierge can purchase tickets real time; and I play a role in maintaining that site and staying in touch with our concierge through it. I also do a lot of computer work. I maintain contact with several entities that buy from us. I send a major e-mail blast out at least once a month to our customer base, those who have purchased from us, letting them know what’s coming up in the way of shows and events over the next two months. This requires design time and updating our data base. I send out weekly e-mails to our concierge, VIP representative, and casino hosts to remind them of what is playing that particular week.
We are about to launch a new web site we’ve been working on for the past year and we’re all very excited about it.
3. How long have you been an AMA Las Vegas chapter member?
Currently I’ve been a member of the Las Vegas chapter for the past two years. Several years ago I was working with another company and I was a member of AMA for two years then as well.
4. How has your AMA membership benefited you personally and professionally?
Personally the AMA membership has benefited me because of the friends I have made throughout my tenure as member. Many of us think alike, therefore have many interests in common and I have been able to make friendships that I’m sure will last a lifetime. Professionally, I have learned a lot from the many speakers we have had. I very rarely miss a meeting and have tried to employ many of the ideas and suggestions that have been made by the various individuals that have spoken to us.
5. Anything else you'd like to share?
I highly recommend the AMA to people interested in any aspect of marketing. It certainly gives individuals a chance to explore ideas and thoughts about their individual business and profession with others of like mind. Any time one gets a chance to vocalize their thoughts to another who is interested in what they have to say, it benefits both the talker and listener. I am a member of several other organizations and I feel the AMA is one of the most interesting and beneficial ones in which I’m involved.
