Current mood:  accomplished

It's been almost a month since I first started serious work on this EP project. I've been extremely pleased with what I've been able to produce so far, although the songs are all completely unfinished. It's nice to have a lot of ideas that have been recorded and laid out so far though, and it helps keep my focus on the task at hand. I thought I'd give a slight rundown on what I have so far, just to give all of you an idea of where my mind is traveling right now.

No Barriers
This was originally a piano solo that I composed back when I was just a sophomore in high school. You could almost say that this was the first "break" I had that gave me the nudge in the right direction to start writing music on a regular basis. It was for a contest being held at my school, and it was supposed to have an inspiring, uplifting feel to the melody. In other words....my kind of music :P. I recently listened to it and sat down at my "studio" here to try to re-imagine the song the way it always sounded in my head. It's turning into a driving, rhythm focused song that I'm really digging so far...I might consider posting the original recording I did years ago here for fun :)

Listening
This was originally going to be a fully orchestrated version of "Dear World". I had actually
started rerecording the melody and everything..and then realized that I was completely ruining the original song by doing so. "Dear World" has gotten such a warm welcome and response by everyone here that it would be incredibly stupid for me to try and touch something that's already been completed. So....this track is more of an answer to what "Dear World" gave. Imagine it being a response to the original plea that came from the first song. I'm trying to keep this track very ambient and subtle. So far it's staying true to form, and It's a nice change of pace from some of my more driving pieces.

Deep Underneath
Don't expect that name to stick. It's just my project file name right now. This track is my chance to not bore everyone with my constant piano playing. It's an electronic piece, much in the style of "Ticking Away" and "Tracing Back". I love playing this one back when I feel like rocking out a little bit, and I'm thinking it'll help break things up a bit with the rest of the EP. It's also helping me brush up on my sequencing skills, and learn a few new tricks with dance music.

Random Melody
Another project file name...this one actually got stuck in my head one morning on my way to work. Most of the time they tend to be forgotten before I get a chance to get home, but this one just kept playing over and over. I'm in love with it. It's been recorded, and so far it's just 4 bars of music but I can already hear it play out in my head, and I'm anxious to see how far I can take it. Good Vibes all around :-D

That's it for today. I hope everyone has been enjoying "Dear World" as much as I have...it finally made the top charts this week and I'm glad it's been giving everyone something to write about. Take care guys

Can't wait to hear it. I hadn't noticed Dear World before reading this. Very, very nice.

Ryan this sounds awesome!!! Are you going to get your album sold in stores? I might just have to pick up a copy if that's the case.

Well that would all depend on if a label picked it up.  But it will be getting sold online at iTunes and here on Myspace.  No worries bro :)
