I don't know if Harvey said this, but ain't it the truth?????

HOORAY FOR Paul Harvey. I myself have been grumbling and wondering how a handful of people have been able to take our right to pray in public places away from us.

So, agreeing with Paul, I GLADLY will forward this email AGAIN, AGAIN AND AGAIN.

Paul Harvey and Prayer

Paul Harvey says:

I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December. I don't agree with Darwin, but I didn't go out and hire a lawyer when my high school teacher taught his Theory of Evolution.

Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game.

So what' s the big deal? It's not like somebody is up there reading the entire book of Acts. They're just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the field and the fans going home from the game.

But it's a Christian prayer, some will argue.

Yes, and this is the United States of America, a country founded on Christian principles. According to our very own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others better than 200-to-1. So what would you expect - somebody chanting Hare Krishna?

If I went to a football game in Jerusalem, I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer.

If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad, I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer.

If I went to a ping pong match in China, I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha.

And I wouldn't be offended. It wouldn't bother me one bit.

When in Rome ...

But what about the atheists? Is another argument. What about them?

Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We're not going to pass the collection plate. Just humor us for 30 seconds. If that's bringing a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession st and call your lawyer!

Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations.

Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights.

Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating; to pray before we go to sleep.

Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying.

God, help us.

And if that last sentence offends you, well ... just sue me.

The silent majority has been silent too long. It's time we let that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard that the vast majority doesn't care what they want. It is time the majority rules! It's time we tell them, you don't have to pray; you don't have to say the pledge of allegiance; you don't have to believe in God or attend services that honor Him. That is your right, and we will honor your right . But by golly, you are no longer going to take our rights away. We are fighting back and we WILL WIN!

God bless us one and all ... especially those who denounce Him.
God bless America, despite all her faults. She is still the greatest nation of all.

God bless our service men who are fighting to protect our right to pray and worship God. 2008 will be the year the silent majority is heard and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions ... and our military come home from all the wars. Keep looking if you agree with this, please pass it on. If not delete it.

This was just retarded. Sorry. To say Christians have had their rights taken away, and are being discriminated against is the dumbest thing I've ever read.

Okay "Zeb" how is this stupid? I was suspended from a public high school for telling our athiest principal Merry Christmas. You can't sit there and tell Trisha or Paul Harvey or anyone else for that matter that this is stupid or untrue. FREEDOM OF SPEECH! Remember...or were you sleeping in government class and think this is a stupid principal also.

I personally believe that people who don't believe in a higher power are idiots...how do you explain the millions of cancer surviors that were only given 2 months to live ten years ago? It sure as heck isn't medicine that saving them. A group of my friends and myself were called to the principal's office one day after lunch because we were seen praying before we ate and another student two tabels away found this offensive. What is this world coming to? As christians we are persecuted each and every day because we won't dress like sluts or engage in certain activities. I'm not trying to shove my religion down your throat or anyone else's for that matter, but geez, have a little respect.....some of us want to keep our ethics and morals.

Kudos to you Trisha and to anyone else who believes it....and to you Zeb....I hope you can answer for yourself when the time comes

I believe he claims that it is “stupid” because the author paint himself as the minority and a victim. There is less then 1% of the population in this country that is atheist. On the whole the have very little power to do anything and receive far more religious intolerance and attempts at forced-indoctrination then a modern Christian ever will. Paul Harvey could have done better by preaching about a complete religious tolerance towards everyone and their respected beliefs, but instead he chose a side that has one of the greatest histories of religious intolerance and tried to paint himself the victim. His indignation blinds a lot of fellow Christians to the truth of the article, which in turn causes them to post or email it with the same indignation.

By your logic with the cancer patients “miraculous survival” if I put a tooth under my pillow and it disappeared in the morning well that must mean the Tooth Fairy does indeed exist. Believing in a higher power is a great thing, but assuming a higher power is the cause of any and all miraculous events is a logical fallacy.

You are a true sweetheart....and an intelligent American who still understands the framework set up by our founding fathers. God has always been a part of the foundation for America. Only recently have the collective fools known as the ACLU been successful in tearing down the association between American Values and God given rights. Our constitution simply prevents the government from ever establishing one particular religion which all citizens must belong belong or adhere to - there was never an intention to seperate the USA from any mention or belief in a higher power. I hope to hear back from you after you have read this.

I see some thigns wrong with this statement.

1-Just because someone doesn't believe in some magical, all powerful being doesn't make them idiots.
Do you believe in the Easter Bunny?

2-The founding fathers intentions were never to set up a country for Christianity. They separated from England because they were tried of a tyrannical, Christian leader who claimed divine right.

3-Why is it that Christians can express their faith but anyone who differs is evil and is trying to persecute them?

4-You're a collective fool.

Theres actually a lot of countries that have a better quality of living and that also pay more money for the same jobs we do here. and many countries dont have all the crazy laws our country does.

i know england pays good wages as does switzerland and canada has free health service.

I was rememinded of this poem when I read the email. You are right on Trish. My attitude? -don't let them take the matches, -they'll be back for the candle. We should counter sue under "freedom of religion" It's a mild form of persecution-and we have to fight back. Sometimes "fighting the good fight" is the victory.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.
